It’s fine. It’s okay. I don’t really care for the sound personally. But who cares? Not me.
Did not expect this to be a punk album. For a debut, it’s pretty solid. It’s not great, but it’s clear it’s a first attempt at something. They didn’t even know, but it’s clear that these guys had potential. And they fulfilled later on. But for now, this is just a cool punk album
Oh boy. I knew I’d see your face again…
I think this album is really, really important for my music journey. Despite listening to it for the first time today. As it’s an album I can remember hearing getting actively shat on ever since I first stepped into the world of music. And for a very good reason. As this album is joyless. It’s not bad in a funny or unique way. It’s just miserable. Em is clearly out of touch as there’s nothing interesting going on in ... read more
This album is perplexing to me. I find its main ideas are solid, it just doesn’t stick to them at all. It finds a cool or unique idea, and then ditches it by the next song. And even still, some of these songs are kind of annoying and not very impressive sonically or vocally. Definitely an overrated album in my opinion. Somebody has to show me the light because I can’t see it.
What an album man. So nice. So pleasant. Will definitely be in my study rotation for when exams come up. As it makes anybody lock in.
This album is fascinating. It’s hard to sum up into words. It’s no doubt fantastic. I just don’t know how fantastic. As it takes so much creative liberty with its sound and ideas. Which is always, always a good thing.
The guitars here I think are the biggest benefactor of this album. As they give it both charm and they add to the ambience incredibly well. It reminds me of October, and I love it.
The progression of this album is awesome. How songs are structured and played out are truly fascinating. It’s not slow and boring. It’s up and at it. And I love it.
This is the workings of an insane genius. I don’t know what’s going on. But what I can decipher is so beautiful I can’t help but love this project. The world it creates is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The singing is muffled yet strong. The production goes on odysseys for no reason. But despite everything, this album still works. And it thrives.
A beautiful, cold, vibrant world is painted with this album. A world in which I could live in forever. Wandering the cold, Icelandic woods. Going back to my little log cabin where my bitch dog ate all my food. Shooting the dog in order to survive. Crying at the fact that this is my life now. Just typical phenomenal world building.
It’s well made, I just can’t ever see myself listening to this. I’m sick of Taylor and this album is a big reason as to why she’s so big right now. It’s just uninteresting as Taylor is an uninteresting person on here. There’s nothing grabbing me in that aren’t these choruses I already know.
Could potentially move up in the future. Just saying.
This album is something beautiful. As always, the boys are backed with great production, phenomenal songwriting and singing, and great pacing. What made this album jump out to me though was the mix. Everything is mixed so weirdly that it makes me fall into this world even more. It’s a bit amateurish. But they stumbled into something genius. I thought songs about leaving were the peak of these guys. I was so happy to be proven wrong, ... read more
The first two songs are so good and awesome. The last two completely nosedive in terms of quality. The middle is a forgettable mess. But this album maintains its atmosphere remarkably well. Even through the boring mush. Also let’s not ignore the elephant in the room. Burzum bad nazi bad.
A pretty nice vibe that’s both nothing special or all that groundbreaking. It’s just solidly put together shoegaze and slowcore. Could be mixed better though. Those vocals are buried.
It’s good. But I do think it has two very obvious fundamental flaws. Pacing and cohesion. The pacing of this album is all out of whack to me. Most of these songs would be better if you trimmed off 1-2 minutes of them. So the ideas are quicker and hit harder. And I feel like the second half of the album is going for something completely different than the first. I respect this project and Porter’s other work but this one was just pretty decent and nothing else, really.
