When I was younger, I disliked The Beatles. I thought they were just a simplistic and poppy band who were like the One Direction of their generation. I was REALLY young, so don't blame me for being an idiot. I barely knew what the hell albums were and my exposure to actually good music was very minimal. During my freshman year of high school, the Homecoming dance was also themed around The Beatles. I didn't actually go because of having disliked them around that period. Again, I was living ... read more
From a critical perspective, this would be obviously be rated very highly. But I rate these from personal enjoyment. I find it a very fun album with some of Beatles’ best such as A Day in the Life and the opening track, and while it’s a very interesting concept album, I don’t find it that amazing on a personal level.
Quite an enjoyable listen. Frank’s vocals are beautiful and the instrumentation is elegant. It drags a little bit, admittedly, and I don’t see myself returning to it often, but one of the earliest concept albums is worth checking out. It takes you to places.
Edit: I really love this album. The background, experimental direction, the emotion... I do think that the interludes and the mentioned sings below do bring it down for me a bit but it’s great otherwise.
Many misunderstand the point of this album or listen to it once and form their opinion. First of all, I think it’s always in poor judgement to give an album (especially one as challenging as this) one listen, form a first-Impression opinion of it, and leave it at that. That can be ... read more
It irritates me that many give this a low score. While I do believe that from a sonic aspect it’s not perfect, the uniqueness and ambition this album brings to the table is breathtaking. The lyrics tell such a powerful and poetic story about so many interesting topics often not explored at all in music. While it’s replayability value isn’t as high as some of her other works, her experimentation with sounds intertwined with the meanings of many of her songs are fantastic and ... read more
Heavily underrated in my opinion. Everyone is saying that it’s lacking in the energy and charisma that made the Saturation trilogy so good, but I’m glad they took this different ambitious direction with this album. I’m glad that they went for a different vibe. This album is definitely their most divisive and challenging release yet and I think people need to give it time to grow on them. If they went for the same vibe and direction with Saturation a fourth time, I don’t ... read more
Phenomenal record, pushing a very creative and experimental approach in an album while making it lyrically masterful, enjoyable to listen to, consistent, cinematic, influential, and culturally significant.
Lot of solid tracks on here, some notable ones including "Barefoot in the Park" and "Where's the Catch" which I found to be quite enjoyable among some others. Weak opener and not a big fan of "Mile High" along with just a few others but overall pretty decent album.
