probably his worst album cover since section 80. But still pretty good. I have no thoughts on the music. Didn't even listen in fact.
This album honestly goes pretty hard. It has the gritty punch of Swans no wave and some hints of the gothic tones of their alter work. However, I just don't come back to this album much. The songs lack real staying power for me personally. They are always a bit too long and have not enough evolution or strong foundation to make them truly something I want to listen to for that long. And despite falling into noise- subgenres it lacks a lot of the evolving free improv sound of noise music ... read more
Weird sampled music and electronica plus post rock?! I should absolutely adore this! It's like rock Technodelic! But...... I just like it a whole lot. Not the best thing ever to me, but very good. I think the ideas of this album have been done better and more concisely on projects many years earlier like the aforementioned Technodelic. But Swans does bring the rock element to the table to great effect on tracks like The Sound which is easily an all time great Swans song. The creative and ... read more
There are certainly some good moments on here but overall it feels like a pretty messy combination of post-rock and folk. It's definitely hard to view this album with the context of what comes after, but still I would say that this project is just decent. I don't think the instrumentation or the compositions stack up to the ambitious lengths of some of the tracks and I don't think there are any Major highlights. It's a solid album but nothing spectacular, especially knowing ... read more
Just worse White Light frankly. Its still got good instrumentation and some good writing, but less great tracks and the excessive interlude bits are just annoying to be honest. Not doing enough to justify its length at all.
Edit: (78 -> 82): An honestly incredible combination of powerful goth rock and folk. Really makes for something not quite like any other.

Now this is what we wanted with folky Swans. This album is pretty great with a few great highlights. Overall I think its very good but maybe a bit long and not doing enough to justify that length. The instrumentation is very good but nothing that blows me away. I am left hoping for More (which of course I will get in like 20 years)
lol yeah I think it's ok if we just agree with Gira himself on this one. It's not great. Not really particularly bad but just not really a fill album that I will ever choose over another folk album.
Swans brings the heavy broodiness of their no wave stuff to the cathedral of goth rock and to great effect. This album is heavy and dark in all the right ways. My only criticism is I don't feel it has any Major highlights. Some very good tracks but nothing that I truly adore.
Edit: (85 -> 95): Front to incredible. The start and end are both especially crazy. Milk Human Kindness is just yeah.

When is the dog world Elucid collaboration album coming?!?
While I don't think this pushes his sound forward in quite the way all his other recent albums have it still has some great new sounds and it's still Tyler's typical standard of quality. Love some of the organic recorded sounds on St. Chroma and Thought I Was Dead. Sticky is cunty af. And Darling, I is real, polyamory for the win.
Despite the cover being one of the most bright and clear displays from Tim the music is decidedly the opposite. Konoyo is easily one of Tim Hecker's darkest, most foreboding records to date. The many low, dark drones and the intense, shrill high ends combine for some very unnerving atmospheres. The album hits the two ends of the spectrum that Tim's softer work sits in between, and to great results. This is easily another creative highpoint for Tim's career. The sonic palette of ... read more
Edit: (95 -> 100): Despite seeming simple in many ways this album is truly unique. There is nothing that sounds quite like it or to its level of quality. Minimalism at it's absolute best. The control of silence is incredible. Scott Walker really sat down and crafted a masterpiece with this final installment of his modern trilogy. Certainly up there for the best post-industrial album of all time.
Edit: (88 -> 95): This album is life changing. Don't let the dark atmosphere fool ... read more
Definitely quite good. This one I think is one of my most biased ones cause I just don't enjoy Mac Miller like that. But it is quite good.
Jessie Ware's your pleasure? Jessie Ware's the dog? What are you Jessie Wareing tonight?
Ever try so hard to be weird and esoteric that you release a normal ass set of 8 tracks as one track, put all together and given a stupid name? Yeah me neither
Just melodramatic Clarence Clarity who they are clearly very inspired by. Based instrumental back half I love ambient music
Songs about getting freaky but you're in a suit and have a skin care routine
