Prince - 1999

😮

Most improved artist of 1982. His previous work doesn't even come close to the insane quality this one of a kind album that took the 80's into a whole other gear(well there's another album that did this more than this one no offence Prince but there's only one king of pop but that review comes later stay tuned! ) Regardless of what was in the parenthesis this album is INSANE! That production and Prince's everything is out of this fucking WORLD! No other album has so thoroughly blown my ... read more

Pretty, but does nothing for me.

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast

The first half was fine old school metal, but the album went up several gears when the number of the beast was uttered. Once that happened it was pure chaos all the way to the end!🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘

I would have a higher score if the A side was just as epic as the backside, but it's pretty underwhelming in comparison for me. Still this album is a classic that helped put metal into the mainstream regardless of my opinions and my respect for the record and this band remains ... read more

I only really cared for the track "Sina" everything else was meh. Shout out to Stevie Wonder tho.

Luis Alberto Spinetta - Kamikaze

It may be because I don't speak the language but this singer-songwriter album didn't connect for me. I liked the instrumental track "Almendra", but everything else was pretty meh to my ignorant ass.

Fausto - Por Este Rio Acima

I love the mixture of medieval and psychedelic elements on that mesmerizing cover art it's so fascinating to stare at while listening to some beautiful European folk music that surprisingly also has a little medieval and psychedelic elements as well. It's nothing Avant garde or experimental or anything, I just noticed those elements on certain tracks here and there. One things for certain this album has a very celebratory feeling with a lot of the songs being festive and exiting to listen to. ... read more

Very impressive live album it sounds like it was in the studio with a billion takes before this one.

While it is indeed a very impressive live album, the content isn't the most engaging stuff you've heard. It can easily become background music as pleasant and well executed the instrumentalization is. So I say that this is a worthy listen especially if you're a jazz-fusion fan but if you're not don't be surprised if you attention drifts from the music at times. Good stuff regardless.

That is this punk in my Reggaeton album???

Honestly more punk bands should dip their toes into that genre it honestly really fits the rebellious theme often associated with punk and it sets a chillaxed vibe to counter the intense everything that the punk tracks offer. It's a decent album with good songs from both genres, not the best but very acceptable.

Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska

Keep it simple stupid.

All you really need for a great album is a nice guitar, a Harmonica, and a fine expressive singing voice with some damn compelling stories to tell. It's a straight forward and to the point album with no bells or whistles other than a rock and roll song that's also pretty damn good. I really enjoyed myself with this album and it's honestly some of Bruce's finest work.

George Harrison????

I want to marry the absolutely GORGEOUS production that is so charming, sweet and, perfect. It's everything I adore out of the 80's soundscape. That fucking keyboard has me swooning every fucking time it's WAY too good to be healthy. The fact that this album is produced by Charly García himself AND he looks like the sexiest man of the Beatles makes me want to propose to this perfect man!

Infinity Frequencies - Hologram Person

It looks like Infinity Frequencies is diving head first into a more sinister tone that was also the theme of the Collaboration EP earlier in the year. This album still has the uncanny and surrealness that's usually associated with Infinity, the tone is just a bit darker and sinister. I wasn't the biggest fan of the EP since the ambience was a little one note, but with this latest album the darker tone really fits the familiar format. So I am exited to see how this new era of Infinity ... read more

Eh pretty mediocre new wave) post punk. I liked a song or three but it's mostly forgettable stuff that I don't care about.

A song or three:

- Igrale Se Delije
- Hajde, Sanjaj Me Sanjaj

間宮貴子 [Takako Mamiya] - ラブ・トリップ [Love Trip]

I love the cover to this album. Wish I could say the same to the content within. This album has the same sin that I am noticing more often with City Pop albums, most of the music just blends onto each other with no distinct identity between tracks. It doesn't really help that this album DRAGGED, this was some of the longest 42 minutes of my life I couldn't wait for this to end.

Despite my vocal complaints there's still a few gems within this album that should be highlighted. They did enough ... read more

佐藤博 [Hiroshi Sato] - Awakening

Man this was such an enjoyable listen.

I loved the nostalgic 80's sound this album has and when they sometimes utilize synths to mimic eastern stringed instruments It brings a smile to my face. Like that's honestly such a unique thing that really enhances my enjoyment whenever I notice it happening. The production and tone of the album is phenomenal yet laid back. I really enjoyed how Sato and Wendy shared the spotlight for vocals. They are each fantastic singers and the chemistry is so good! ... read more

I'm getting pretty bored of city pop. They are all starting to sound the same. Each song blends into the next with no distinct identity. This album doesn't really offer anything new for this genre so I am just sitting here waiting for something interesting to happen and it never really does.

濱田金吾 [Kingo Hamada] - Midnight Cruisin'

On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."

On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
