Grimes - Art Angels
70

I really enjoyed California, Belly of the Beat, and Easily. The rest was fine but nothing impressive.

Lil Uzi Vert - Pink Tape
55

Nakamura, Just wanna rock, and Days come and go were good, everything else was painfully boring or veering on just plain bad .

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
100

*Listens to dark side of the moon*

"HOLY FUCK THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING! How can you even match this let alone surpass it?

*Listens to wish you were here*

"HOLY FUCK THAT'S HOW!"

Both are still 100s cause they are both perfection in their own ways. I have ZERO critiques and they are MUST listens.

Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
70

I wasn't feeling this album until it got to "In the light" and from then on it was a much better experience for me. The later half of the album is the Led Zeppelin I prefer over the first half. That Zeppelin is just boring radio rock for me and it got old years ago.
Despite that this is still a good album overall that doesn't really have any misses. Very consistent and strong performances throughout.

Patti Smith - Horses
70

Gloria: Man that was a lot of fun! It's been a minute since I just ENJOYED a song for what it is rather than giving boring critical thoughts on why I am liking what I am hearing. It's a lot better to just let loose and let the music carry me.

Below is a string of thoughts that led to an internal debate I constantly have when listening to albums for the first time. If you're interested then please keep reading, but if you're just here for my thoughts on this specific album to this album, skip ... read more

Brian Eno - Another Green World
50

50th Review!

And it's the one artist that I look forward to the least while going through the top albums from 65 to today long term project that I am going through. I have yet to hear one single song from Brian
Eno that doesn't go in one ear and out the other. It's SO boring to drudge through. I just don't get the hype in the slightest.

Milton Nascimento - Minas
50

I have yet to have listened to a jazz record that hasn't bored me half to death.

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
65

Born to run and Jungleland HARD carries this album.

(Finishes Jungle land)

Ok WOW that was special! That Alone upgrades my score from a 60 to a 65. If you were to listen to one song from this album make sure it's Jungleland!

Joni Mitchell - The Hissing of Summer Lawns
60

I enjoyed "Harry's house/Centerpiece" and the closer "Shadows and Light" everything else was meh to me.

Harmonium - Les cinq saisons
55

I only liked parts of "Depuis I'automne" otherwise I was pretty bored.

Cortex - Troupeau bleu
50

"Ya like jazz?"
Not really.

Rizza - limbo
75

I'll admit that the only reason I am even listening to this is because the album art Intrigued me. Looks to be a solemn knight with half a face with a glowing cross in the background. (Is this FF16? Cause it kinda looks like it to me.) And there's only one other review so I have little to no gage on what to expect. I predict medieval/ orchestral music and if I am lucky maybe some backing vocals to amplify the emotions. Alrighty then, enough rambling let's see what Rizza's "Limbo" is ... read more

Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention - One Size Fits All
60

Oh shit, I see the name Frank Zappa. The last time I heard from you you were a 100 album. Of course zero pressure, but I still got standards since I know what you are capable of. Anyways I hope this is a fun album for this Friday evening....

Inca Roads: It's certainly an engaging and interesting listen. It's got the goofy lightheartedness I have come to expect out of Zappa. Can't say it's anything particularly great though.

Can't afford no shoes: Still a pretty stand Zappa song. This album ... read more

Parliament - Mothership Connection
65

If I read correctly then Parliament is like Funkadelic's sister band? Then if so, then I got pretty good expectations for these guys. Funkadelic's "maggot head" got a hundred for a reason. Now I won't set my expectations THAT high, but I hope I have a lot of fun with this one...

P-Funk: Now this was pretty creative. Having this be like a live radio station was pretty dang cool. I hope this theme is sprinkled throughout the album but not too invasive that it harms a song's individual ... read more

Neu! - Neu! '75
60

It's ambience. I like it generally, but there's little to no substance. Very relaxing to listen tho.

Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac
80

Alrighty then, this is being typed before I even listen. I have heard snippets here and there of Fleetwood Mac and I have always said to myself that I need to hear more cause this is just great! Well today is that fateful day! Let's see what all the hoopla is all about:

Monday morning: Starts off ok, but hey the harmony is always a plus for me...Yeah, just finished it, and it's ok. Nothing to get excited over.

Warm Ways: I'm liking the soothing instrumental to start things off. The singing is ... read more

Heart - Dreamboat Annie

Rating #50!

Magic man Is a classic that is even better than I remember!

I also really enjoyed Soul of the Sea.

The harmonies and the Banjo were nice highlights that helped Dreamboat Annie stand out.

White Lightning and wine has the same quality as Magic man in that it's a lot of fun to listen to, I want to learn the song so I can sing along. And it is probably a favorite at karaoke cause it's so fun to sing.

I also really enjoyed "I'll be your song". While it's a slower ... read more

Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
50

It's just too slow for me to care.

Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn
75

I enjoyed the "Ommadawn pt2" a lot better than pt 1.

On horseback was a fun little tune with a catchy chorus.

In Dulce Jubilo continues the medieval trends that this album's instrumental has. And I like myself some good medieval music! It just gives a rich whimsical feeling that makes me feel like a little child playing innocent games in the backyard with my siblings. The electric guitar though somehow enhances that feeling!

First Excursion abandons the medieval music and lets ... read more

"@frogofprog of course, all the songs listed in the review are great including the all time classic in War Pigs. I just think as an album experience as a whole it could be a bit better."

"@ScottShelby As for what's next for Zappa since I have listened to most of his Acclaimed stuff besides a couple of TMOI releases In likely to finish off that bands offerings before down the road see what Zappa has to offer in his more contentious releases."

On Terry Reid - Terry Reid
"@AidenBowe45 He reminds of Paul McCartney at points with how passionately he sings and the instrumental goes crazy. It's a fun album for sure!"
On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
"@AidenBowe45 Groovy, funky and takes you on a ride. I don't remember if it goes wildly off the track but I wouldn't be surprised if it did with an artist like Hancock at the wheel."

On Amon Düül II - Phallus Dei
"@AidenBowe45 I'm excited for whenever you do decide to listen to it, they put you on a wild ride that's the best of both worlds and reminds me why I regard Krautrock as one of my all time favorite genres to lose my mind to!"

"@AidenBowe45 I mean it's not the definitive vaporwave experience, but if you're a fan of the genre then there's definitely some solid stuff here."
On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."
On Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel
"@RSmithFan What I meant was that this was the first album that felt like it was made in the eighties. Don't know why I phrased it that way either."
On Not Marshall - FRIDAY NIGHT A DRESS2IMPRESS MODEL HAS TO SHOW OFF HER NEW AFRO HAIRSTYLE
"@engar where? what? I don't see anything eyebrow raising."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
