Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters
90

There are some really cool sounds on here, that honestly are insane for when this was released. You can tell that this really started a specific type of sound then then would be able to grow and blossom. Even with how much music has changed, this still holds up extremely well and is just a really great, smooth time.

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia
40

The first song really feels like they couldn't pick what genre they wanted to be, so they just decided to throw everything in there. The metal parts were kinda hard but like the entire thing was just downright silly. This continues throughout the entire album and leads to an entertaining listen regardless of the quality of the music (which isn't ever really "bad", just kinda bland at a lot of moments). The transitions between genres really needed to be cut down and made a ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80
95

This is one of Kendrick's best albums, and its honestly probably in my top three. Theres so many incredible tracks on here that just hit so extremely hard though their emotion and their sound. The production on here tingles my ears and mind in just the right way, its honestly awesome the way it makes me feel for being so early in K-Dot's career. His delivery is perfect the entire way through and fits everything amazingly. There's really only one or two weaker tracks here, and ... read more

celia celia - big love

This is a very cute and emotional EP. Really found this quite an enjoyable project to just turn on and listen though. The writing and delivery are really good and the guitar playing is nice and soothing. Nice project all around honestly :)

Denzel Curry - 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT MIXX

Interesting project. Everything flows together REALLY well which is cool, but i will say that i do not like a lot of these tracks, they feel extremely unfinished and weak. There's some really good production, but its dampened by the bad mixing and fairly weak lyrics. It didn't really feel like Denzel's heart was in it anymore, and a lot of this felt like lazy rehashing of ideas from TA13OO. Def not bad, but not really all that good either.

You can really see the roots of heavy progressive metal here, and the sound of this project is really quite good. Its intense and never really lets up with its intensity. There's a lot of variation here as well, especially for being this early in the scene. The riffs throughout are also great; i love the sounds they bring here, they still sound extremely fresh even with the evolution of the genre, especially in the back half of the project. I do think that the vocals can get extremely ... read more

Gojira - Magma
90

This is a really great album that has unfortunately grown off me slightly. I still really enjoy it, but it isn't nearly as crazy as I once thought it was. The first time I'd heard this, my mind was BLOWN, as it was the first prog-forward metal album I'd really heard, and those elements still hold up really well. This has some of Gojira's most memorable riffs throughout, including my personal favorite of theirs, being Only Pain which has some of the best use of a Whammy pedal ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - Black Ben Carson

This is a very strange project. Theres some great tracks on here, but overall, this is really forgettable. Theres also some moments with REALLY wack mixing, which throw me off a bit. That mixed with the large amount of bloat here dampens it's quality a lot; this really did not need to be an hour and 12 minutes. With all that said, i don't think this is a "bad" project, just pretty mediocre, especially for JPEGMAFIA. The sounds on here are sometimes AWESOME, and I feel like ... read more

death do us apart - Outside is Colder Than it Looks

This cover is amazing, and as soon as i saw it, i immediately decided i had to listen. I found the composition and use of the instruments throughout were genuinely incredible. I loved how everything sounded, being intense, yet emotional. Really pulls on your heartstrings. The only part that i didnt really love was the STOMACH BOOK feature, but the glimmer of her real voice as a part of that song was a high point of the project, and i feel like her real voice would fit extremely well over this ... read more

Lil Darkie - USD

Theres some pretty good production at some points on here, some flows in the first half that are enjoyable, and honestly, this album was pretty funny. I appreciate him not taking himself seriously here, and a lot of the "unintentional" humor also kinda feels like it was made to be like that. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst projects to follow up yang. It feels like it pulls down a lot of what he was doing on there, especially with the latter half being some really bad acoustic ... read more

SKOTSKR - FUCK YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT.
70

This is a good collection of Skotskr tracks. Hearing this style of solo music from him is really interesting; while it is good, i do appreciate that he moved away from it, as i prefer his more recent tracks to anything here. With that said, i still enjoyed the three songs on here, and am glad this exists for me to listen to :D

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
90

Damn, this is GREAT. This is tyler at his most fun and free, and he really does a great job here. The production is wonderous throughout, and everything is so catchy and easy to move along to. The sparse features are amazing as well, and really let Tyler shine on his own at many points; that being said, when the features are there, they add a ton to their respective tracks. Awesome project, and its cool to hear something like this from him.

Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill
100

Dude, this album RULES. It feels just as sonically "loud" as VDoP, and yet it is way more interesting to me. There's some really cool stuff done here, with a lot of strange instrumentation and genuinely NONSENSICAL sounds done with the guitar that feels so different from anything else, without ever really becoming too out there or overbearing. Suicide Note Pt. I into Pt. 2 is one of the best 2 part songs ever made, they work so well together and that midpoint break really helps ... read more

Metallica - ...And Justice for All
95

This is a really cool album. It's intense, does a lot of strange things, and sounds great, like their previous projects. The time signature fuckery is really cool, and it doesn't ever do it poorly. The meaning of this album is also more powerful and intense than their previous two to me; it's criticisms of the American justice system and use of that to remember their (at the time) recently deceased bass member is really well done and purposeful. There's some bafflingly ... read more

Doug Walker - Nostalgia Critic’s The Wall

am i crazy or is this not nearly as bad as everyone says. it feels like well crafted ragebait to an extent, and i would say it got the reaction that Doug wanted it to get.
like sure its complainy and whiny and whatever but like its really not that bad sonically it still sounds fine for the most part. It is extremely disrespectful but i cannot take Doug Walker seriously and i have zero care for what he thinks so it doesnt really matter. Theres also a lot of stretches where its just the ... read more

colin! - THE VISION VOLUME 2
75

after hearing HOLYTRIBUNAL, which is honestly an amazing song, i spotted this as a presave, and was really excited. I'm happy to say that this was also great, matched the energy of his previous project and felt like a pack of great songs that work together really well. The production here is really nice, smooth and soothing in that colin! fashion. Releasing this not too long after his Egotrip feature was a great decision as well, honestly a well made and also just smart project, really ... read more

Pink Floyd - The Wall
75

This felt more approachable to me than the other Pink Floyd albums, as instead of four extremely long songs, this was split into a lot more parts. I know it ends up being one of their longest, but seeing the individual tracks be shorter, it felt less imposing to me. This feels really abstract and all over the place, but i think that works to its favor; the clutter feels intentional and necessary to get across the story and intentions of the project. It is, however, too long for it's own ... read more

SKOTSKR - Uneased & Ignored
75

This was a fun remix project for EASY LISTENING. The vocals aren't really that audible, but the noise is so loud and just fills your ears at many points, which is a good thing. The new production really changes the intensity of many songs, which is cool to hear. I do think that EL was better as a full project, but this was still thoroughly enjoyable :D

FAKE TYPE. - FAKE SWING 2
15

Not good. I find it very funny that this is both the third highest rated electro swing project and the 5th highest rated Japanese Hip Hop album, really goes to show how under-represented those genres are. grew numb to it at the end but even then this was really bad.

Dr Pepper - Sounds of Succulence
