Gorillaz is really rough around the edges. Lots of songs just kind of fizzle out after having an interesting start & others remain stagnant the entirety of their runtime. The Gorillaz genius hasn't really kicked in yet, this sounds like a glorified mixtape. That's not to say it doesn't have bangers. Tomorrow Comes Today, Clint Eastwood and Rock the House are Gorillaz classics. Bangers can't save this album from being a mess however. It has SO MUCH filler dear god the amount of filler on ... read more
very heartfelt ballad w great songwriting. super excited for the album
so intricate and well thought out w/ all it's concepts to the point it feels like i've actually been transported to another whimsical existence
While the implementation of so many genres is impressive on paper, this album is a prime example as to why it just do not work out sometimes...
The production is hilarious & the pen game is straight out of a 16 year olds emo rap project
everything about this from the verses to the deliveries to the beat to the music video it's all just so unbelievably horrible
lil nas x needs to work with better producers. genuinely awful beat
"Rebecca Black Was Here" is both really fun & really moody & for the most part it melds it's vibes together very well. Really atmospheric production & Rebbecca has a lovely voice. This EP is very cohesive & flows very well. Standout tracks are Blue and Girlfriend. Blue is a reverb drenched slow-burner that has a wonderful buildup. Girlfriend is a straightforward pop banger with a catchy hook and shiny production. Very good stuff!
I really do not dig the "updated" sound to Orphan Tears. It's basically a glorified remix. Starts out kind of promising with the first verse but the hook just does not hit & relistening to the first Orphan Tears the hook hits HARD DUDE! & the trap drums during the hook it's hilarious but like it's not good
it sounds slightly better than the stem player rips i've heard but that's not saying much bc the song is AWFUL LMFAO
buildup to the first hook is pretty good & then the beat drops & it rly does not hit bc Marshmello's signature sound is just so dated & offputting. If it was a Selena solo song w maybe some piano it would b ok
"Aphrodite" has really good hard hitting production & pretty singing. TBH very good yall gotta not sleep on this
