Portishead - Dummy
85

Listening to this during a power outage hits different.. Before the past 45-50 minutes, I was filled with uncertainty about when electricity will be back. This album fills that darkness with temporary light.

Ariana Grande - Sweetener
50

Sweet, yes, but.. not really her best. ‘God is a woman’ is absolute fire though πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Fugazi - The Argument
80

This is like if Radiohead took an indefinite hiatus after releasing Hail to the Thief.

Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese
70

The band that made the South Park into made an LP that sounds like five different albums depending on the mood you’re in.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
70

AI cannot replicate this piece of art. If it does, it’ll be the end of humanity.

Invisible - El jardín de los presentes
75

I can’t tell if this is prog or wizard magic because my dog fell into a deep sleep while she overheard this πŸ”₯

I don’t know if anyone knows this, but every generic album about nothing but sexual innuendo lacks personality. Especially when the features sound so much better than the main artist.

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
80

One of the biggest risks an artist took that bloomed into a phenomenal album.

Ari Angel - FOR ARI
80

(( Recommended by the artist themself! @aricatmew ))

What really stood out to me the most here is the crushed/8bit vocals. I don’t know if Ari was inspired by hyperpio or not, but the feel is there on tracks such as THE CRUSH SONG and SIX (GHOST). There were also some ambient-esque (I think they’re ambient) bits on the last few tracks that make me question if the tagged genres are correct. That makes me love this bold move even more!

wowaka - をンハッピーγƒͺフレむン [Unhappy Refrain]
90

Rest in peace, wowaka πŸ•ŠοΈ

A controlled cacophonous blend of various time signatures and minimal choice in instruments bring a revolutionary album to Japanese music and the vocaloid scene. No skips, no filler, just phenomenal music.

ReMark - Mayflower
85

(( Recommended by Remi’s Reviews ))

Wait, this was only 7 minutes?
I was pleasantly surprised by the shift from ambient piano to rock, then growls, then metal (I think?) at the end. The progression of each genre in this order is not easy to pull off, but Remi does it well! I don’t think I have any criticisms that are too big, but hey- if this is the standard for the album, I’m really excited for its release!

Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
80

If I were to describe how 2021 was for everyone.. A rollercoaster that is full of fuckery, just like the feeling you get throughout this album! Probably the best depiction of it I’ve ever heard.

Metallica - ...And Justice for All
80

Having already listened to the black album and a little bit here and there, I was a teeny tiny bit disappointed with the way the production went this time. Definitely the weakest out of them all, but it’s still pretty good!

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
65

I agree with Fantano on this.

This might sound a bit harsh but I don’t understand how most think this is one of the greatest albums of ALL TIME. I don’t hate it nor do I love it, but there’s so much of Kanye speak-singing about himself (that isn’t in a meaningful way) before I contemplate skipping a track. Yes, the production and sampling is great, but would I call him an innovator?

That doesn’t denote any of the commentary spanning through the album though. But ... read more

Philip Glass - Solo Piano
80

All this needs is a lofi hip hop beat in the background and it’d be perfect.

JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!
80

Everything here is actually retrospective and insightful in a meaningful way alongside catchy synths that sounds like what pop music is supposed to be. Hopefully JADE keeps it going with future releases!

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
90

They made an hour and a half sound like a forty minute midnight drive. This could easily be the soundtrack to a movie like that and I’d pay to watch it.

Cities Aviv - BLACK PLEASURE
85

UNDERRATED ALBUM ALERT!!

Going in with absolutely zero expectations, this lives up to the cloud rap genre! At first, I wasn’t sure exactly what cloud rap is; maybe atmospheric vaporwave with rap beats? Yes, BLACK PLEASURE 2012 kinda does fit into that description. I’d say the best parts are when it becomes this gritty noise. Personally, I don’t really have a taste for ‘noise’ because of the mixing, but I like it here a lot.

American Head Charge - The Feeding
60

It’s.. okay. The highs are there, but there are too many lows to give this a better rating.

Inanimate Insanity - Inanimate Insanity The Official Soundtrack Vol. 2
90

“Alternate Reality Show” is one of my canon events. Also a top 5 episode across the entire OSC.

Watching the entirety of season two for the first time back in 2021, I loved it! Mainly because at the time my only favorites were Lightbulb and Paintbrush, and I didn’t really know why.

I remember binging season two for the first time. 2AM, stuck in a chronic horrid headspace because of a multitude of variables I prefer to keep private. I kept from laughing out loud to not wake ... read more
