She can make any ballad sound super nice
It's always a nice moment when it's time to listen to a new Dreamcatcher project, you know you're going to get something different from the rest and will eventually catch you off guard. I think this EP does this pretty well. With 'Apocalypse : From us', they already seemed to distance themselves a bit from the huge EDM influence in their music, and they went that way with their 9th mini too. The album is probably one of their heavier ones, there are very few K-pop groups where the ... read more
SAVE ENHYPEN !
Ever since the end of ENHYPEN's first two eras, 'BORDER' and 'DIMENSION', the quality hasn't been quite the same. Going from something rather new and fresh, to generic and unoriginal releases. It seems like nothing and no one can save the group now, and it's sad when you look back at their super promising early days.
The introduction "Mortal" follows the pattern of ENHYPEN's intros, it's pretty good, mixing narration in English, Korean & Japanese (hi lessarafim) ... read more
I was both excited and scared about this collab. I love it when idols of different groups collabs together, but few are memorable enough and if you remove SM's GOT THE BEAT (hi Winter), and the "Wow Things" collab (hi Soyeon), we're left with practically nothing. The line-up is interesting too, starting with (G)I-DLE's Soyeon – whose rap skills aren't to be proven anymore, aespa's Winter – one of the greatest vocalist of her generation, and IVE's Liz. I'm not as familiar ... read more
Red Velvet's 3rd album, 'Chill Kill', is what you'd expect – and perhaps want – from the group.
Red Velvet's last full album was in 2017 with 'Perfect Velvet', which came after 2015's 'The Red'. Both represent a certain side of the group, as their name suggests, 'The Red' shows the fun "red" part of the group, and the "velvet" side, more mature, is portrayed by 'Perfect Velvet'. After a bunch of EPs that didn't totally fit any of the two categories, 'Chill Kill' ... read more
After the excellent 'MY WORLD', the quatuor is back with their 4th mini-album, 'Drama'. Will they be able to top their previous comeback? This is what we're about to find out. What's also worth noting is with their three EPs, aespa offered different levels of quality. Through their debut 'Savage', they entered the landscape offering a new and interesting sound. It worked pretty well, leaving the listener envious for more. They kept this style on their sophomore mini 'Girls', but it wasn't ... read more
The melting point isn't quite melting.
I was going into this with pretty high expectations as I liked their debut EP. Even tho my expectations weren't met, their sophomore mini contains 2 great tracks, "MELTING POINT" and "Take My Hand".
The use of 2-step and other genres involving breakbeats is done very well on this project, to the point it's what might be saving it from being bland and uninspired. The first three songs all use those fast rhythms and make the EP feel ... read more
The long awaited return of the beloved Miss Seo Soojin.
I'm not sure how to properly begin this review, I've been following Soojin since 2020, and kept up with everything that surrounded her, so as I like to write about one's background when I start a review, I think the story of Soojin is worthy of a brief breakdown (I'll leave a quick timeline at the end). After making her debut with (G)I-DLE in 2018, Soojin grabbed the attention of many for her dance skills (her Studio Choom performance in ... read more
Heejin is the first member of ARTMS to make her solo re-debut. One of the big questions I had before going into the EP was: how will it differ from tripleS and OEC? As I heard the highlight medley, I didn't notice a sound particularly different from what tripleS had going on. Not in the way that it sounded like one of their previous works, but more like it seemed to go for a similar sound approach. Even if as you know it's a sound I love, I'd prefer if they went for something different for ... read more
This release comes as a little surprise and gifts for fans. A nice city pop track with a lofi rnb touch to it. Very lovely tune!
As a big Winxy here since debut, everything about this release seems concerning.
From the last minute announcement, to the lack of promotion and the cheap looking cover, everything makes me worried. Did they spend too much on a tour that didn't make as much as they wished? I don't know. I think ALLART, despite the rather small budget, always showed a certain quality, both with the music production and music videos, here the music is lacking and there aren't any MV – not even a ... read more
Both songs are super fun and complete each other, as "DANG!" offers a lot of energy and "BYOB" leans on something more laid-back.
Within those two tracks, the group can keep you engaged because even on a less significant release, they don't ditch the quality. It makes the songs feel as important as if they were part of a bigger project, pre-release singles or b-sides on an album, instead of a small release, partly here to give something while Sua and Suhyeon are on hiatus.

Chuu can do it!
Chuu was the first LOONA member to start a battle against Blockberry Creative, a battle I won't go into as it's long and complex, just now on Nov. 25, she got officially kicked out of the company and group, and it marked the beginning of the fight between orbits (LOONA's fanbase) and BBC, the start of the successful boycott. Since then, every few months BBC has tried to block her way, the latest move was getting the copyright for "LOONA's Chuu" (in Korean too). Anyone ... read more
First of all, I don't think it's that bad.
I like the strength of "Calm myself", the instrumental is rather soft and even the build-up isn't that powerful, but the way SUNMI delivers the lines makes the track feel stronger than without her voice. Then it's only 1:29 so the impact of the song is relatively small and even the best of the intros can't make you get over an average project, even a triple single like this (I don't know if there's an actual name for singles with 3 ... read more
I don't even think YOUHA is able to drop a bad song. It's mostly rnb and while it could have turned into a rather simple and basic tune, the synthesizers add a more sophisticated touch to the track. The production coupled with her voice creates a velvety sound I love. I know her discography isn't big yet but since 2020's "Island", I've never heard a single bad song from her and it's to wonder why she's still not so popular.
Well, we lost TXT...
I don't think we'll ever get a new great project from the group. Comebacks after comeback, it always feels more or less the same.
Over their last couple of releases, TXT has been taking bits from rock and it's no big surprise to see the album opening up with "Growing Pains", a song that gets its base from nu-metal. This rock tone is something that fits them and I would like to see them explore this sound more in the future to be able to come up with something ... read more
This project isn't bad at all but lacks of anything special enough to make it stand out.
The group confirms their sonic identity through all these dance-pop tracks and that's a good thing to see. I think having a unique colour became something essential over the last few years, with the amount of new groups hitting the scene, and the need to detach yourself from the pack to show you are here and offers something different and worth it.
Another tripleS EP and another favourite of mine!
The counterpart for 'ↀ [MUHAN]' is here and offers a similar sound, but with elements I enjoy even more. If you never noticed how much I appreciate all of tripleS discography, now is the time for you to get it, as I'm seeing pretty mixed opinions about the EP, and I seem to like it more than many. I totally understand anyone finding their sound to not evolve a lot, and it's true. However, as I adore this synthy and bright atmosphere, I'm all ... read more
This might be the first (G)I-DLE EP I wasn't paying so much attention to, due to a few reasons. The first is the lack of involvement from the members, which is something I love about the group, no matter how well or not they do, it's just something to appreciate and it's true for other groups such as Stray Kids. I guess you could say that at least there are fewer awkward English lyrics but they also lack some authenticity, at least when Soyeon writes a messy English line, I can feel a sense of ... read more
I don't know if the group will ever makes its way among other unknown girl group and start to get more people behind them but I doubt it's with a release like 'Live' that they will do it.
On the first song "FLIRTING" we get the girls singing and rapping on a Latin pop track with some trap here and there. I don't think it's a horrible take on the style, but it remains far from being a good one. It ends up a bit messy to me and has a bunch of awkward moments, like that random ... read more
