One year (literally) after 'Cherry Wish', Cherry Bullet are back with their third EP, they're one of those girl groups that seems to always be on the verge of disbanding, but when you start to think it's over, they come back. Last year, 3 members participated in "GP999" and a couple of months after they came back with 'Cherry Wish'. This year it's different as Bora (who was loved on "GP999" despite not making it) joined the survival show "Girls Reverse" which ... read more
Despite not being as good as their previous EP, 'Sunny Summer' makes sure to stay very fun. Each song has that little thing that makes them different to the other and is behind why all the tracks are fun in various ways.
"Time for the Moon Night" is such an amazing song and one of their best. With this mini they mix the elegant elements they tried on 'The Awakening', with their usual colour - often taking inspiration from new jack swing and synth-funk - and come up with one of their best projects.
I like the atmosphere the song gives off, I would say it feels a bit too long at times, but after going through half the track more elements comes and goes which keeps the song going and keeps me in. I would however appreciate it more if the melody wasn't always the same and would vary more, like changing a couple of notes, chords or rhythm from time to time.
This mini differs from their three first project just by looking at the tracklist and the lack of an intro. And the second you hit play you understand it will also be different sonic-wise. Leaving the pop-rock guitars and schoolgirl image for something more electropop and elegant.
The opener "Hear The Wind Sing" is extremely fun, I love the way it blends strings into electropop and the melodies are nice.

I think "Rough" is a bit less catchy than the two previous title tracks, but it actually comes off as also better. I think it's really great how they get to explore a sound and managed to pull off something different every time, and even improve, all while sticking to that same colour. All throughout the album, you can just hear how everything got better all while keeping the same energy. The production is more interesting, and their vocals improved. I have been missing out on a ... read more
This project is quite fun really, the introduction presents the mini perfectly, it takes elements from the title track, and a sweet piano and even incorporates sounds that seemed to have been recorded around a river to match the theme even more.
"Me Gustas Tu" is such an iconic song from the group's catalogue. It's genuinely fun, light, fresh and catchy, in other words, it's perfect for what the track is trying to attempt. I don't know any lyrics but one thing I know is Ii will sing ... read more
It's my first time checking the group's music after hearing them on music shows with "Love or Die" (the title). This mini leaves me completely indifferent, it's so bland and generic that the title track sounds good compared to the other song. From the intro and outro having no intention and doing more bad than anything to the album, to the overall unoriginality and dullness present here, it's a total miss.
"Love Never Dies", which serves as an intro, has no purpose here, in ... read more
This EP is not as good as some other stuff they released, but it's still a good project for sure. I guess it fits their sound with the soft and sexy vibe they give off and if I must say I'm a bit less familiar with the group going for this trap-edm & pop rap sound (more common to groups such as The Boyz), like on the title track "seOul drift", I didn't think it was made in a bad way, so even if I'm not the biggest fan, I still liked it as it doesn't sound cheap or anything. My ... read more
This project makes me think I should really do a GFRIEND discog dive-in someday, this group really has some forgotten gems here and there, "Glass Bead" being one of them.
Someone was selling the CD at a record market and there extra small k-pop/j-pop section which consisted of 5 to 10 CDs. I looked at what he had for a first time and bought another album. Then went to finish my little tour and a voice inside me kept telling me to go back to that guy's albums. So I went back to him, looked again at the couple of j-pop CDs he had, and I don't know why but this one once again caught my attention. Maybe the cover just reflects how I feel these days so I was ... read more
This couldn't get me more excited than I am now. I believe she's able to come up with a pretty diverse and unique and those 2 tracks seem to only prove that. I don't think she's scared to take some risks with her music so I'm really looking forward to her sophomore solo album!
TRI.BE is coming with projects that just feel okay, hopefully, there are no particular bad songs, but no great moments either, it's just average k-pop. I almost feel bad when I write those kinds of negative review because I know how much effort those idols put into everything they do and barely gets anything back. I really wish each of those little groups would at least be given better music but here we are, and this project is no exception. It feels so cheap and well, it's true for the most ... read more
Purple Kiss keeps on coming with charming and sweet j̶u̶i̶c̶e̶ music, honestly, they have everything to stand out, a great concept - dark and mysterious that might resemble Dreamcatcher's one but still differs from it with a different sound direction-, and amazing vocalists. They are a one-of-a-kind girl group and just like way too many, are still struggling to have a stable place in k-pop today.
If you take the title track "Sweet Juice", yes it has a dark and mysterious ... read more
STAYC girls... we need you to comeback, but like really comeback. This is just another thing that will be forgotten, "Poppy" was honestly a good song and I thought we were going to see the girls back with something fun and great like in their rookie days, but this new song is the opposite. They tried to bring something fresh, I know they tried, but it just doesn't do much. I still find some fun in "Teddy Bear" but see with how saturated the gg landscape is these days, this ... read more
Before I start the review I must say it's the first 2023 k-pop project I was looking forward to. I put tripleS AAA in my top 3 of 2022 k-pop and expected a project of the same quality.
On the full group's debut, we find a similar sound, which is often present in monotree's work anyway. I admit that I want to enjoy this more than I really do, maybe I still live on the expectations I had for this. 'ASSEMBLE' is still a great album and I would disagree with anyone saying it's boring or bad, sure ... read more
For the story, I work at the place that distributes the album and since the cd's arrived, I've been having eye contact with them every single time, wondering why I'm so attracted to it and what's inside. So I waited a bit, checked their 2 other albums, and when it was ok, I grabbed a copy of the promo CD (the last at the office??), more excited than ever to discover what was inside. And wow I was left speechless.
