Piss In The Wind Redux is a perfect rebound from the album it served as a addition to. Significantly more cohesive to the degree that it makes me an ache for the songs on vinyl to add to my collection that otherwise has every Joji project.
This album gives me the same feeling as listening to “section 80” in high school. Seeing a artist create a perfectly cohesive statement that reflects both their own mindstate and the times we live in.
In love with this album, essential listen. The songs strike a perfect balance between relaxing and memorable. Play this at night.
I been following James Blake since I first heard “Retrograde”, his music was the soundtrack to many sleepless nights in college. Since then he’s proven himself to have one of the most consistent discographies in modern music. This new album is no exception, in fact its his best album!
This album reminds me that I need to listen to more Mike projects. Really fantastic lyrics and really interesting production.
I used to be a huge Kanye fan even seeing “The Life Of Pablo” stream in theaters weeks before the album drop and later seeing him live October 8 2016 for the “Saint Pablo Tour”. Shortly after this he would descend into the downward spiral from which he still hasn’t recovered to this day. This new album and the reception I’m seeing points to an audience desperate to recapture the feeling Kanye’s music used to give them. If you listen with your brain off ... read more
How is the new Kanye album getting better reviews than this? This site makes no sense sometimes. I’m not even a huge Yeat fan, “Rich Minion” was the first song that brought him to my attention so I initially dismissed him. “2093” was a amazing listening experience though so ever since then I’ve been checking his work. I was never a huge fan of the rage sound though I’m starting to warm up to it. Either way, I find this album’s production to be ... read more
I been a fan of Curren$y since 2011, getting into him through his “How Fly” mixtape with Wiz Khalifa. At his best he makes the best chill out rap out in the game. I’m happy to say this project is Spitta at his best, Alchemist always brings out the best in him. Larry June occupies the lane that Spitta helped create, it’s a surprise that this is their first full length collaboration. What a great project it is though, my favorite Curren$y project since 2022’s ... read more
I decided to take my time before giving my final thoughts for a album this long and am glad I did. At first I loved the first disk front to back but the second disk was a mixed bag for me. After repeated listens I can say that allowing this album to really live with you makes for a rewarding experience. The second disk that I initially found to be a mixed bag benefitted especially from this. I still think theres two songs too much on this album but I wouldn’t describe any of the tracks as ... read more
This new Baby Keem album grew on me in a major way. At first I feel a little underwhelmed, the album isn’t as instantly satisfying as “The Melodic Blue”. However repeated listens reveal an album full of the creative flows and catchy hooks one excepts from Baby Keem along with unexpected moments of brutally vivid storytelling. The album does feel pretty short and goes by very quick but that just adds to its replay value. With every listen a new song becomes a standout.
I been a A$AP Rocky fan for as long as I can remember. I can still picture myself downloading “Live.Love.Asap” off of Datpiff in 11th grade and transferring it onto my iPod Classic. That project’s hazy atmosphere managed to make me feel blunted without the use of any intoxicants. I remember the indescribable energy of witnessing the Rocky, Tyler, Danny Brown and Vince Staples collaboration tour in 2015. Needless to say he provided formative music to formative times in my life. ... read more
Due to my hype I have been going through A$AP’s work, low in quantity but supreme in quality. I’ve come to the conclusion that “At Long Last” is not just my favorite of his discography but one of my favorite albums of all time. Unlike its predecessor it has no concessions to crossover hits and returns to the cohesive sonics of “Live.Love”. The addition of Joe Fox brings a element of unpredictably to the song structures that gives it an insane amount of replay ... read more
This album is his best since the fantastic self titled album that made me a devoted Zach-irite. Zach Bryan manages what Morgan Wallen wishes he could, quantity and quality. His albums are often close to twenty track or over yet I never feel any padding or stops in momentum. Even his triple album “American Heartbreak” works as a front to back listen. I find this album to also be an improvement over its predecessor as it showcases a marked variety of instrumentation its predecessor ... read more
Now here’s my hot take: I think this album is better than their debut. While the first side of “Please Please Me” has an energy that cant be matched, I find the pacing of the second side to lack the same cohesion. “Meet The Beatles” feels like a perfected version of the formula established by their debut. The choices of covers work better and the originals are just fantastic. “Don’t Bother Me” is brilliantly melodic while establishing a distinct ... read more
I consider this project in the sub genre of “emotional support rap”. Whenever I’m having a tough week I put this mixtape on, get immersed in the beautiful music therein and start to feel better. Also 34 tracks with no skips is insane.
Due to a brutal chase of bronchitis that I’m still recovering from I’m way behind on my reviews and ratings. I’ve been wondering how to put my thoughts on “LUX” into words. In many ways this is a album that defies categorization. It’s musically varied enough to not be pigeonholed into a genre yet so many of the songs have an irresistible poppy catchiness to them. Each movement could be its own separate project as they each have a singular feel of their own. ... read more
