I like this album. It has some tight and ear pleasing production and Frank's lyricism and his unique exploration and perception of love is the highlight of this project, but I don't really personally feel that emotionally impacted by it or don't feel the magic behind it like many others do, but that's just me.
The album that set a road for Tyler to become one of the most influential and different rappers of his generation. Prior to this, excluding WOLF, Tyler was a hit or miss for me and the overly edgy and bad production from his records set a bad taste on my mouth. When this came out and i heard it for the first time, my opinion on him did a whole 180 flip. The production on this record is simply beautiful and the lyrics explore a much more vulnerable, softer side of Tyler that was never seen ... read more
Who knew that the "Buddy Holly" guy would come out with one of the most vulnerable, disgustingly honest music experiences ever?
Pinkerton, simply put, is one of the greatest albums i have ever heard, and the most rewarding risk a band ever took in music history. Despite the INCREDIBLY high bar that Weezer put by releasing their debut, the blue album, this record manages to blow it out of the water and release an even better record by some miracle. This album, despite the praise that ... read more
An alright record with some nice aggressive production that comes with it, but that’s just as far as i can praise it.
I understand why everyone loves this and I understand why its so acclaimed by everyone, but I personally can't get to enjoy it as much as I'm supposed to. Maybe there's something wrong with my ears but this whole album sounds underwhelming to me despite a few bangers here and there. I guess it just doesn't click with me.
I wouldn't consider this a "Brockhampton" record and just pretty much another album in Kevin abstract's solo discography, but anyhow, it's a good listen. The production and vocals on this thing are messy and raw but in a good way and Kevin uses that to the record's advantage for the MOST part, because sometimes the mixing and sounds on this album just sound outright awkward and trash like on "southside". The highlights on this record for me are "my american life" ... read more
I mean, there's some alright tracks here and there and "man on the moon" is phenomenal to listen to, but whole thing overall is just a letdown and an underwhelming ending to Brockhampton. Kind of sad to think that this is their last and worst album.
This compilation is a special gem and everyone who thinks Viper is a meme rapper or some guy that just bashes his keyboard in FL studio for shits and giggles should really give this a listen. The production on the tracks on here sound otherworldly and incredibly impressive sometimes and Viper is a genuinely a talented person whose work VERY often gets wrongly dismissed and overlooked.
This thing fucked me up, man.
Solace is a painfully accurate and haunting depiction of depression that'll make you feel like shit. The production and the surreal, depressing sounding samples of this EP are truly some of Earl's best work and you can just hear how tired and done with life Earl sounds in his impactful vocals. From front to back, despite its incredibly short length, this EP is a rollercoaster of emotions that range from mere sadness to absolute pure dread.
Certainly not as groundbreaking or as emotionally impactful as SIMBI, but this record is still nearly flawless and an amazing listen. It feels like a more laidback experience, and more of a break from what she did on her last record. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that this album has tight and clean sounding production and simbi's vocals are amazing as ever. Just a really great listen overall.
A significant and philosophical album that hypnotizes you with its unique, hazy instrumentals. The lyricism in this album is just simply thought provoking and fucks with your train of thought, with the wordplay being snappy and the production being outright surreal sometimes. This is milo's best and most profound work by a longshot.
One of the most defining albums of the decade, if not the greatest breakup album i ever listened to. This is one of those albums that will remain impactful and influential for decades to come.
Tyler, at least for me, used to be a wild card prior to the release of IGOR. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: Cherry Bomb, Goblin and Bastard, (excluding WOLF because that album is a rare, special gem jammed in-between these mediocre releases) are just simply not good and Tyler's evolution from an edgy and ... read more
The loud, cinematic sounds next to some experimental instrumentals and the often hypnotizing vocals from jimmy are the highlights on this project and the whole listening experience is a breath of fresh air, but i personally feel like some songs personally feel like fillers and can be a bit of a drag. As an example, i feel like the skit in the second half in ""i try", while funny, goes on for too long and its being shoehorned in an otherwise nice track lessens the impact for me ... read more
A great and heartbreaking last addition to Mac's discography. This album has beautiful, mellow and melancholic instrumentals that when accompanied by Mac's vocals and lyrics that explore his mental state, it will give you an existential crisis and it WILL make you cry on tracks like "good news" and "hands". Mac's team truly did him justice on this album's production and mastering. Overall, this is a sad, difficult listen and certainly one of the best Mac albums and it's ... read more
I already reviewed the first EP that i listened to alongside this one as a reissue that included all the tracks altogether in apple music, so my experience might differ from others. Anyhow, I personally like the last one way more than this one and i feel like this EP kinda dips in quality overall, at least for me personally. Though i'll admit with others that "kicking cars" is a beautiful track, but i'd say that the self titled track "DEATHMETAL" just carries the last EP by ... read more
It's Radiohead for femboys.
No but really, for a project that was supposedly lost for ages and just recently discovered, It sounds absolutely amazing, and i did NOT predict what this would sound like. From the name and the cover, i expected shoegaze, scream and just generally a very eccentric record. It's none of those things. It gives off very experimental lofi, Radiohead-esque vibes that sound melancholic and relaxing at times. One thing to note is that I listened to this on apple music, so ... read more
There's not alot of groundbreaking stuff in here, but that's fine. OME still doesn't miss in the production and lyrical department. The beats on this thing are raw, scratchy and beautiful and just sound pleasing to my ears. The DOOM tribute is also a nice addition to the album and certainly one of the highlights of this record instrumental wise. Overall, it's a fun listen but i'd wish OME would make this album a longer since it feels like it ends all too quickly.
This album divided everyone when it came out for sure, but in retrospect, it turned out to be one of the most different sounding and well thought out Kendrick albums of all time, including one of his best and most memorable openers "united in grief" which just caught me off guard right off the bat with just how DIFFERENT and simply beautiful the erratic the drums sounded. The prominent use of piano sounds throughout this album is what shines the most and its what makes this album a ... read more
