At first Swans just sound like a meaningless slop of noise that makes me want to listen to something with much more energy, but for some reason I can't get myself to stop listening. My first Swans LP I have listened to was none other than "The Beggar" and believe me I was impressed. I checked this bad boy out for the first time and wow what an experience. It made me feel confused since I felt cathartic which is a complex emotion for me to feel since I did not expect it to happen for ... read more
More shoegazey which is up my alley. Pink Cellphone kills the vibe entirely.
The most balanced feeling Deftones LP where the shoegaze do be gazin and the metal do be metallic.
Favorites - Entombed, Rosemary, Gauze
Least Favorite - Graphic Nature, Leathers, What Happened To You?
It's like if a few teenagers picked up a bunch of old instruments collecting dusk from the attic at a garage sale and accidentally remade the Beatles formula. It's an album I could call perfectly simple. It sounds like an oxymoron, but let me explain. The most simplest of riffs guitar teachers could teach a 7 year old with ease, lyrics that without context of the songs as a whole look like shitposts, and the most generic garage band sound that can come out of a bunch of bored teens that spent ... read more
I don't care if it's corny. I know every lyric and I will scream them if I hear them. Frankly I do not care about the weird kid allegations and will proudly wear that to my grave.
*Edit - I'm tripping balls

Despite how long it is, it went by really fast. I thought the narrative around the concept was really creative. Bangers and stories just what an album should be.
Was like a 86 when it first came out, but didn't age well for me at all.
I don't like metal at all, I try to like it but I don't. If I really wanted to listen to metal, I'd go for something that has the same vibe and falls into the same sonic spectrum like Techno which I really enjoy. This is at the edge of that in which I can not only enjoy it, but covet as an album I keep on my rotation. I have listened to this masterpiece and have not put it down ever since.
I pretty much dove in the deepest part of the pool by making this the first Swans project I've listened to and DAMN. I was playing Apex with this in the background and I had to just stop and take it all in during Michael is done. I've never felt so much discomfort and release from a singular body of work quite like this. What an experience and I feel excited to take a deeper dive into the band's discography.
Starts off Really strong, but gets progressively more boring it's still good though with Hope Sandoval's vocals being some of the best I have heard in all of music.
Makes me want to hold hands while walking in a park in the late fall while this LP plays from my airpods. No direction, cold as hell, scarves, beanies. The only warmth that you'll get is of your partner's embrace, Elizabeth Fraser's discernable yet dreamy vocals, and the ethereal guitar riffs pumping into your ears.
This album is underappreciated for its influence in combining Trap and R&B so blissfully. The concept is refreshing, new, extraordinary, and full of great moments. The songwriting may be considered lackluster, but there are times it hits you. Give it a chance maybe during a night drive.
Feels so raw and from the heart nothing gets realer than this. Few artists can both Rap and Sing both at the highest level. Ms. Lauryn Hill, I applaud your work.
