Very comforting and cinematic because of the beautiful atmosphere every part of this creates.
Frank Zappa is a genius. The Jazz and Rock are blended in a way that sounds so balanced yet full of life and funkiness. This is what music should be. Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to describe this.
Very top heavy, falls off a cliff towards the end. If it stopped at redbone it would be great.
I have this complaint with foundational albums that define future generations of music after it. In my opinion, most "grandfather" albums sound badly mixed, outdated, or just age very bad. I don't feel that way about this album though. It feels VERY ahead of its time, like scarily so. Television may be time travelers. It is obvious that a lot of music we listen to nowadays evolved out of this. Its nothing short of phenomenal, flawless, and important.
I was listening to ts everyday for a good semester on my walk to school. Favorite Rap Mixtape all time. Underrated as hell in my opinion.
My mom would blast Tidal on the car CD player, I just wasn't mature enough to appreciate or comprehend this masterpiece at that time.
AOTY I'm not kidding, exceeded expectations. Has bars on bars on bars, "I'm a king not a prince I'm still sippin purple rain." There are no bad songs, all bangers, no sleeping, no Tzatziki. The tags don't come off corny, its heat. I am not tweaking, this is genuinely peak. You will not be disappointed.
Having Kanye and The Neptunes produce on the same album should be illegal.
It is a musical, lysergic, funky, groovy, full of life mosaic that keeps you engaged for its full 58 minutes.
Extremely nostalgic, but won't let that affect the quality of the album itself.
