This is the album I will put on when me and my future child have to drive somewhere far just me and them. Just no words, no reaction, just put it on the AUX randomly seeing the look on their face when they really vibe to it and hope it slowly helps them understand how to be a person. Then when its done you ask, "You liked that one?" and they nod with a smile. Grown up they think real hard about that moment and love you for it.
I vaguely remember shifting from listening to what ever was on the radio and enjoying it to hating everything that came from it at like age 13 and this album were one of those reasons since it set the bar too high for my musically ignorant teenage mind.
I listened to this making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and tripped on my dog dancing to it.

Mixes Electronic, which I've always listened to my whole life, and shoegaze my new love. Lethal combo my ears absolutely adore. I'll have this on rotation.
I'm at a lost for words. Individually, Portishead already makes phenomenal music, but the live version? Especially on songs like Cowboys, Roads, and Strangers are better live than their already wonderful studio counterparts. Just goes to show how legendary Portishead really is.
Grew up listening to this on my mom's CD collection. Will always be a classic.
One of the funniest albums I’ve ever heard while simultaneously makes my mood switch at the halfway point. Danny paints his experiences so vividly which I can imagine as if I was there with him like in “Scrap or Die” and “30”. A rapper has never made me laugh and feel sad on the same project to the effect Danny has. A versatile storyteller that paints pictures with his words. I definitely need to revisit Atrocity Exhibition since I understand what type of rapper he ... read more
The concept of this LP with its slow tempo and minimal instrumentation is supposed to create a sluggish, boring, mundane feel. However, it does not feel that way at all. In fact, the LP is beautiful, textured, cohesive. There are nuanced changes in the guitar, despite the riffs being pretty much the same, which acts as a glue and provides life in each song. The instrumentation with the vocals just blend together so well to create the feeling.
Very impressed how Grohl wrote all the tracks by himself. The tracks sound unique. It is a little rough around the edges, but for a debut I'll cut Foo Fighters some slack.
A solid Jazz album just great calm vibes all around. A good listen for just about any occasion.
Really only liked the guitar and Sultan Of Swing. Other than that it didn't really blow me away.
The textures are just beautiful with a slight country twang to them. I would rate it higher since I do believe this whole album is flawless, however it didn’t move me emotionally to warrant that. Just a good listen. Will definitely be a contender for my next road trip jam.
Joy Division manages to create an atmosphere that accurately provides a way for their depressing subject matter to cut through to the listener. The reverberating drums, atmospheric guitar, minor chord progressions, and the haunting vocals from all fit together to mold the melancholic soundscapes the goth/post-punk band achieves.
Edit :I hit it off with a girl from talking about this album 90 - 99
I love the strong political messages in this songs as he talks about oppression, poverty, and society. I am definitely a fan of political reggae with this I consider the quintessential.
Just a nice album to sit around to. Great around friends as you talk about life. Great vibes all around. I do prefer Marley’s more politically charged records compared to the repetitive but vibey jams, however my opinion does not take away from the masterpiece that this album exists as.
