I found the Reggae sound they were going for kind of tacky and not as soulful & from the heart like I get from Jamaican Reggae. There are a FEW catchy songs, but most of them I cannot recall. It is not bad by any means its just that "Message In A Bottle" really bumps this motif as a whole higher.
Very top heavy and falls off towards the end. The bangers really give it a higher rating than it should for good reason (You Only Live Once is my go-to choice for karaoke).
Very easy to listen to, just lacks any artistic depth and coherence to help the album make sense. It sounds like more of a collection of songs rather than a single working piece. The definition of not the most spectacular, but purely solid.
Goosebumps for a good 58 minutes for its emotionally charged instrumentals.
Goofy Ah album cover, but amazing ah blend of Shoegaze and Christian Rock.
It sounds like if you recorded a German construction company and added a flanger to it.
Not as lyrically vibrant as their debut, but the instrumentation really took it up a notch.
Synth-pop influence, very noisy (Not a bad thing), pure mastery. Trent Reznor can turn a theme into life. What an experience despite the feelings of dread, anxiety, and disgust. Everyone should listen at least once despite its dark motifs, it can be a valuable insight into looking through the emotional side of cathartic, shock songwriting which this LP does not fail in creating.
Listening to this mixtape is like when a random sex scene pops up while watching a movie with your parents.
She Stroke on my Julian ‘til my Casa Blanca
In all seriousness, this is my 2nd favorite Strokes album because it is not only so different but has so many simply cool switch ups that make their songs so appealing. For all my Strokers out there, don’t expect the classic Strokes sound when listening to this. Come into it with a new perspective then you realize how truly sonically appetizing this LP really is.
