I recommend the review from @WhatTheFunk if you want to read about this album.
I liked it, but I did find it to be a bit too long. Out of all drone and ambient albums I've heard, this one stands out due to its simplicity and specific atmosphere that is extremely consistent throughout, perhaps due to it being recorded all on the same organ.
That being said, I don't see myself returning to the entire album very often, mainly due to the length. I will definitely return to individual ... read more
This just keeps growing on me. Wasn't a huge fan of the singles or album after the first listen, but now everything is clicking and it's heat
Fav Songs: Psychoboost, Experimental Skin, Dreamflasher, Professional Vengeance, JRJRJR, Dancing with your eyes closed
Good, very good. If you like The Microphones or Mount Eerie, this album sounds like that if you were to cut out all the noise. He even mentions Phil at one point
Fav Songs: Rich (Homeless), Don't Be Afraid, Auntarctica, Waterfalls, Judges
I dont think I love every song on here by itself, but in the context of the album it all works so well and really just feels like 45 mins of peak
Fav songs: First Day of My Life, We Are Nowhere and It’s Now, Poison Oak
A couple years ago when this dropped, it was the first deathcore/blackened deathcore project Id ever heard. Kinda my beginning in metal in general to be honest.
The vocals are definitely the highlight of the ep to me, and what got me interested in the genre, but the instrumentation is also great, it's very eerie and ominous. That being said, I don't really return to this very much
Fav songs: The Frozen Lake, Pt. II
Feels lonely but hopeful. Definitely comparable to a Dreampunk album like 新しい日の誕生 by 2 8 1 4, and just a lot of music with that sound
This album stands out to me due to the lack of drums. Instead of drums they commit to building a dreamy atmosphere, which allows me to listen to it more as an ambient album than anything else. But also it's just great
The strings in this are so good.
Instrumentally this album isn't too aggressive, which for me creates a stronger feeling of intensity and brutality when the singer really gets screaming. This dichotomy of the instrumentation and vocals is something I want to hear more of
Fav songs: gazelle, space orphan, ataque de nervios, ego death
Ok yeah the screaming vocals are not enjoyable to listen to or good, but it does make the album unique I guess. The production actually has some cool moments and is overall pretty listenable, but pretty much every song sounds the same
Fav songs: none
On my singles wave rn. Imogen Heap doesn't really miss ever it appears
This is much more folky than their two albums that followed. Great listen if you want to hear to Irish folk
The only Brand New album ive heard, but I'll definitely be checking out more
No bad songs, and also the cover art is sick
Definitely an enjoyable listen, and I wouldn't say I dislike any of these songs, but this doesn't hit as much as I wish it did. From seeing other people talk about this album, typically giving it lots of praise, I've always kinda hoped that it would click with me too. Regardless, any album that starts with a song called 'Outside' has a special place in my heart
Fav songs: Only Acting, Time Today, Flyway
Tom's Burgers made me shed a tear, and 06 Camry changed my perspective on life
Accidentally found this album while trying to listen to "#1 victory Royale", and was pleasantly surprised by how weird Tomato Town was as a song. The rest of the album is also pretty weird
Fav Songs: Pig Pen, Tomato Town, Budlight & Cocaine
