Drake & 21 Savage - Her Loss
63

Theres some good tracks on here, it isnt bad but doesnt offer anything new or refreshing. It meets the expectations of being a fun and easygoing listening album but doesnt exceed that. This is an album that will definitely grow on you the more you listen to it, bc of how simple the production is, the good flows, and hooks are catchy. The chemistry between drake and 21 is great though which is better than the last couple Drake releases. Overall this album is just okay, mid almost but bc of the ... read more

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love
75

RHCP is my favorite band of all time so I am a little biased but the 3rd return of Frusciante has the core band back and you can tell they are just happy to all be together and just jamming again.

There’s some tracks on here that feel like vintage classic RHCP songs (She’s A Lover, Veronica, Aquatic Mouth Dance) a couple more. As a fan its a good album if you were craving new music from them that isn’t too far from their signature sound. Keidis of course has cringe worthy ... read more

J. Cole - The Off-Season
75

EDIT:

I still have the same thoughts, but after like my 4th listen, I can say that The Off Season is actually named properly. It is simply here to prepare us for the season “its a boy/fall off”

The biggest issues with this album is that the songs are too short & Cole only has like 1 verse on every one of them, which for working on these for years you would think that songs on here would be fully fledged ideas & songs that were more complex rather than a verse & like a ... read more

DAMN This man Cole done evolved forrealll !!! Yall done made him mad. This is justt the damn interlude, & from the production and what I just heard I Hope The Off Season really delivers lets goooo, Cole's flow and pen seems so effortless now, no longer forced and smooother than ever bro.

Conway the Machine - La Maquina
78

GRISELDA JUST CANT MISS EVEN THO THEY JUST DROP EVERY 2 MONTHS ITS CRAZY THE AMOUNT OF WORK THEY PUT IN.

I'm still bumping The Plugs I Met 2 and than this drops and Conway has unlocked some new flows on this project. Most likely bc of some of the brighter production from his grittier sound. ALSO as an avid NBA/Basketball Fan, the basketball bars areeee fireeee bro. Scatterbrain is also easily one of the best songs I've heard this year sheesh.

Young Stoner Life, Young Thug & Gunna - Slime Language 2
60

The first half of this project is colorful and a satisfying sequel to Slime Language but then the 2nd half starts to feel uninspired and there's some tracks that Thug just seemed to put on this project for the sake of it. Like Comme Te Llama might be the most annoying song I've ever heard & to how & why it made it onto here IDK.

& TBH I've listened to this project like 3 times in full already & I still can only pay attention to the first half of it after like track 12 its like ... read more

Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red

Biiihhhhh DA fUQ GoiNG on riTE NAowwwwwww, CARTI saID FUUQQQQ that psychedelic trap shit Im not trynna hypnotize u no more I'm just trynna have u beat the shit outta yo whole familyyy... &&& SEEE A WHOLE LOTTAAA REDDDDDDD...

Im trynna bash somebody car in rn bruh FYM.

Carti doesn't use the bby voice as much on this album but experiments with his vocals and is extremely polarizing & rather than be subtle w his songs they are BASSHINGG IN YA FACE WITH CRAZZZZYYY ASS PRODUCTION. ... read more

Megan Thee Stallion - Good News
74

NGL, i've never listened to a Meg project fully. This was my first time, so I have nothing to compare it to when it comes to her previous projects. I will have to say as soon as I started it & I heard the "Who Shot Ya" sample I was like damn, I think im bout to actually like this album...

Meg is a rap superstar, she has that IT factor, and has created anthems for women not only once but like 5 times, she's polarizing and whether you want to really admit it or not, Megan Thee ... read more

WILLOW & Jahnavi Harrison - R I S E
70

This is a pretty soothing 19 minute EP. The stripped back instrumentals are calming and really give Willow & Jahnavi's vocals space to shine and create a dreamy ambience.

I would recommend playing it while cleaning your room or just want to chill out for the day, maybe go for a walk, etc. it'll have you zen, even if its just for a short period of time.

Fav Tracks: Rise & Born To Give

Future & Lil Uzi Vert - Pluto x Baby Pluto
52

I knew exactly what this was going to sound like. Usually collab projects featuring two big artists, especially in the "trap" hip-hop lane always just seem like a certified money grab. Like ya know the people gone eat that shit up regardless.

I feel like I've heard all of these songs plenty of times already and why is the tape almost 1 hour long???? It should've been like 30 mins at the most especially if they're just gonna make a fun upbeat collab album for the hell of it.

All of ... read more

Kodak Black - Bill Israel

This album is just filler for his fans, and NGL I am one but after hearing his last Dying To Live, which is his best project by far this just seems like tracks he had leftover from that album that he decided to drop since its been about 2 years since he dropped new music. The album starts off pretty well imo but then like instantly falls off.

I really do enjoy introspective and reflective Kodak. That is when he is at his best when he is inside his own mind trying to understand why he is so ... read more

THEY. - The Amanda Tape
73

THEY. is such an interesting sounding musical group IMO. Their vocals and production choices gimme a R&B inspired country/pop esque feel. Almost reminiscent of early Justin Timberlake. THEY. loves their acoustic guitar chords, which is perfect for the current state of hip-hop production, since it seems like the guitar is becoming producers favorite instrument. Not to blame them it works well with their sound.

Its a catchy Pop/R&B album for the most part and I do think they have a bit ... read more

boy pablo - Wachito Rico
68

Boy Pablo just ultimately suffers from being in an oversaturated genre at the moment. I would say the issue with every band/musician in the "Bedroom/Indie Pop" lane is just providing anything that isn't already out there musically.

Even though the instrumentation is pleasant and it is a for the most part a fun listen, the lyrics are is what to expected given Boy Pablo fittingg right into their niche. At first listen it was a solid album but after a couple more listens the songs ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
93

One of the most innovative albums I've ever heard and I believe released within my lifetime. This is like Tyler's, MBDTF in which, he combines all the styles of production he has developed from previous albums and used all his skills to create one creative masterpiece. Just the idea to combine the light Neo Soul/R&B sound with his messy dark synths, along with all the featured vocalists on this album (that is uncredited) bc he just uses their voices as instruments to enhance the beats is ... read more

Okay, this album is my personal favorite album of time, idgaf what y'all think. The RHCP are my favorite band of all time and helped expand my music taste transitioning from hip-hop into the many genres of rock. John Frusciante's creative direction led to the most melodic RHCP album ever. I love RHCP because they combine all of my favorite genres together from hip-hop, to funk, to alternative rock and even grunge at some points and the overall sound of By The Way is so timeless to me. JAY-Z - Reasonable Doubt
93

This is my favorite hip-hop album of all time. The introduction of Jay-Z in the golden age of hip-hop. It just shows us the greatness that is too come and the start of his legacy. The epitome of an authentic hip-hop album with gritty but soulful production and great samples. Jay's lyrics are also on point flexing he can rap with the best of them in the most coolest and effortless sounding way. His presence on this project is confident and hungry but at the same time so nonchalant. Not to ... read more

Omar Apollo - Apolonio
69

Omar Apollo, one of the most recognized musicians in the "Indie" genre, debut album is not as strong of a debut as expected but it still is solid enough to satisfy so called "Indie" heads. The steamy R&B chords and vocals are sure to put you in a sexy mood I guess though, lmao. Play this for a girl and you might get some action.

Only 9 tracks and 26 minutes the debut is short, a little too short. It just seems like another one of his EP's. I'd love to hear what he can ... read more

Pop Smoke - Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon
77

Pop Smoke was a vibe yo. This man had so much talent and potential. This is album executive produced by 50 cent and it is easy to tell. This album is very pop rap friendly and catchy but also hard enough for the streets. It's basically like 50 cent all over again. Pop Smoke's energy is different he just had a certain swagger about him that made his songs more interesting than others in the trap genre.

Theres very memorable songs and to be real I love Pop Smoke in his bag and singing more than ... read more

mgk - Tickets To My Downfall
63

People are haters yo I swear MGK can never win. He is a rapper and out of many rappers that have attempted to make a "rock" album this is definitely one of the best I've heard. Travis Barker carries this album and has a huge influence of the sound in general. The pop punk inspiration allows for very unoriginal songs but to be fair pop punk is super 1 dimensional. I personally think MGK has better vocals than most of the early 2000s pop punk vocalists and his lyrics can be cringey and ... read more

21 Savage & Metro Boomin - SAVAGE MODE II
72

Morgan Freeman should've spit a verse frfr. Metro Boomin definitely went crazy on this album some of my favorite beats by him. Even though the beats do low-key carry this project 21 does do his thing. He isn't a great lyricist but he is better than other trap rappers and is decent at story telling. All im saying is don't sleep on 21 he got bars here and there. Morgan Freeman interludes are fire and the transition to Snitches & Rats.. sheeesh

I don't believe this album is better than I Am ... read more

On Chorde's review of Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red
"I agree with most of what you said I just feel like ppl in general were expecting a similar sound to Die Lit of course and he gave the fans the opposite of the minimalist melodic sound that Die Lit was and instead wanted to be polarizing and completely in your face and hard with the production and vocals, even tho most of the production is also just regular loops it sounds harsher and worse bc it isn't as melodic and instead a bashing bass & 808s.
