The clean vocals didn't really do it for me, but god damn that instrumental was tight af and the screams were good. Maybe it will grow on me eventually.
These past singles have been kinda confusing lol. Love rivers of nihil, owls is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I was actually wondering if they were about to top it when they dropped the sub-orbital blues. Hellbirds dropped several months ago and I didn't like it, but this is a nice song even if it doesn't match anything from Owls or The Work. I'm curious to see how I feel about this album as a whole, because these three singles have been quite different from each other.
A bit of an odd choice for a single but I did enjoy it and think it will likely be even better in the context of the album
I'm not the biggest fan of Health usually but this collab really works
Really solid release here. As per usual with this band the vocals are the highlight but the instrumental is still great too. Really excited to hear more of what they've been cooking up
Had never heard of this band before but this album was uploaded to a discord server I'm in so I decided to check it out. This album was great! Love me some metalcore that leans more towards the hardcore side of things.
Highlights: Putrefaction, The Seventh Seal
Low Points: Unwritten
This was a pleasant little suprise this morning. I had no idea this was coming out. The sci fi vibes in this album create a really cool experience. A metal band themed around cyborgs is a really cool and fun idea. The album is also really heavy with the way the guitars are tuned, which gives the album a pretty unique sound. The choruses are also catchy, which a lot of metalcore goes for, but a large amount of the time it ruins the pacing of the song, which doesn't happen with this album. ... read more
Forget about album of the year this shit is about to be the album of the decade
Some of the most solid riffage in all of modern metalcore. An essential listen for all melodic metalcore fans.
Highlights: Dream Thief, Thorns, Eternally Apart
Low Point: The Storm in Me
It's crazy how Shai Hulud have been around since the 90s and still nobody has replicated their sound. The unique melodies in this album are fantastic. The Dune reference is also a plus.
Highlights: Venomspreader, Cold Lord Quietus, Be Winged
Low Points: The Creation Ruin, In The Mind And Marrow
I loved the guitar melodies on this album. The choruses were repeated too many times in a few songs but everything else made up for it. If you like bands like Phinehas that try to capture that 2000s metalcore spirit you'll enjoy this.
Highlights: Mea Culpa, Blurred Vision, First Light
Low Points: How the Beautiful Decay, Evergreen
A very mixed bag for me but I did enjoy it overall. They went for a more melodic approach in a lot of the songs which didn't work for me most of the time, but a couple did kinda remind me of Misery Signals, which I enjoyed.
Highlights: Death Grip, Split, Wrath
Low Points: Cityscapes, Secret
