This album was released at a bit of an interesting time for the band, where most of the members from Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child where still there, but Cory Brandan, who was about to change the entire direction of the band had just became the lead vocalist. The result is a bit of a mash of the Scogin and Brandan eras of the band, leading to overall a pretty good album, but not as good as their debut or much of what was yet to come. It is however still very much worth the listen and ... read more
Definitely one of the most creative albums I've heard this year. It does have a couple low points but it also has some of my favorite songs of the year so far.
Highlights: Cinnamon Temple, Telescope, How To Meet Yourself
Low Points: White Rabbit, BMO is Beautiful
One of the heaviest mathcore releases out there. Not quite as raw as Converge or The Chariot but it packs a damn PUNCH.
When you come away from a masterpiece like Lord of the Rings and one of the most memorable things is the soundtrack you know its really fucking good.
Erm, what the stigma?(i can't fucking take it anymore)
When it comes to the genre of metalcore, I am not a very hard person to please. All I really want is some decent riffs(bonus points for 578s), breakdowns, good vocals, and actual passion put into the music, and I'll enjoy it. The passion is definitely where it feels this album is lacking the most, it really just feels completely souless throughout. I mean god damn I'm writing this immediatly after finishing and the only ... read more
Sharptone bands are absolutely killing it. Probably the most stacked label in metalcore rn. This album is yet another revivalcore banger and while I don't enjoy it quite as much as Dying Wish or Boundaries, it has a lot to offer and I will be returning to it frequently.
Highlights: God Under Fingernails, Resetting the Senses
Low Points: Magnetic Roses
The original was a classic and the only thing really holding it back was production so this is perfect.
Idk what this is but this is exactly what I have been looking for for the past like two months
Wisdom is realizing that this is the best Norma Jean album. Also DAMN long time Norma Jean fans ate in 2010 with both this and Long Live dropping.
Highlights: Falling From The Sky: Day Seven, High Noise Low Output, Innocent Bystanders United
Low Point: A Media Friendly Turn For The Worse
The whole album is damn good but Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste is straight up one of the best metalcore songs of all time
This song is similar to the other single where the instrumental is good but the vocals hold it back. The main difference being this songs flaws are even more apparent and the instrumental isn't as good as the last one. The chorus is also nothing special while Divine did have a pretty nice chorus. The ATR vocalist was really good back in the early 2000s but his voice just sounds really shot now which is a shame.
Does this ep sound like a 0? Not really, but they took a 10/10 record and made it sound bad. There is absolutely no reason to listen to this when the original album exists.
If Converge dropped this album it would have at least an 80 and aoty would be calling it one of the best metal albums of the year.
