This is Yung Leans best album by far,
sonically it has a nice blend of trap, cloud rap, and even some ambient pop which I enjoyed quite a bit, some great production on this with a fair amount of experimentation as well, and I think the ethereal production compliments Leans emotionless flow way better, which was a major problem for me when it came to Yung Leans music, however his flow overall is quite solid on this. The only song where I felt the flow came off quite awkward was on ... read more
this album was very hypnotic, I often found myself getting lost in each track, each song painting a vivid image in my mind of what was going on. Like with the opening track "Into The Deep Time (One Sun)", it made me feel like I was being descended into 'deep time', of course with the concept of the album it refers to the Mesozoic era. It was also an amazing opening track, perfectly setting the scene of the album and the sonic themes throughout. Then we get introduced to the main ... read more
Westside Gunn delivers his 3rd studio album with a lot of hype surrounding it. The album starts off very strong with the first 3 tracks. Im just gonna be straight up and say that I didn't enjoy his performances at all, it just felt awkward and the hooks on some of these tracks were just very underwhelming. Which is disappointing because there were some really good ideas on this album, just ... read more
This is one of the most ambitious hip-hop albums I've heard, with only 2 tracks that are extended out to 30+ minutes. I think for some people it puts them off from listening to this but I don't really see this as a bad thing though, because I think there is enough substance to make it entertaining enough to sit through. Sonically it blends together sounds of jazz, hip-hop, there are elements of electronic, elements of ambience, obscure samples and so much more that comes together that creates a ... read more
