This EP was my introduction to Weatherday, Asian Glow and the shoegaze genre overall.
As for most projects that grow scarily close to me, I initially wasn't a fan. Initially, I liked Center the most. Then, I liked Look Alive, Sunshine the most. At the end of the day, I found out I've got no favourite, because this whole fucking thing is equally incredible!
I found myself loving listening to this on my way to school, or while taking a ... read more
So, if you're following the underground dubstep scene, chances are you've been witnessing the extreme hype this anonymous producer, Modal Nodes, has been getting. With intricate fills and tie fighter laser blasts incorporated into brooding riddim, big names such as Subtronics, SVDDEN DEATH, MVRDA, and Kill the Noise have been singing their praises, and after tons of short clips on Soundcloud, Modal Nodes finally releases their first official full-length EP on streaming.

My warming-up to extreme genres (which aren't in the EDM realm like speedcore and the like, bc I've liked those since 2018) has been extremely cliché, which is really funny. "HUMAN" is a huge feat, filled to the brim with classic Nitepunk excellence, whether that be the sample work, ideas, drum patterns or flows. My nitpick would be that some of the musicality isn't as memorable or intriguing as I would like it to be, but then again that's not a grave problem and barely hinders my enjoyment of this record.
also the cover art is fucking crazy
Fav: Literally too much good there to choose
Least fav: i dunno...i guess Nephilim's Drama and Sober but that's ... read more
This one's overhated, ngl. The first half is fucking great and while the second half has quite the downfall, there are some saviours like "Don't Get Too Close".
DON'T LEAVE ME LIKE THIS definitely feels more "intentionally introductory" than LEAVE ME LIKE THIS did. there's just nothing i could say about this track, really.
WAY BACK is pretty amazing! trippies addition to this track is kind of unnecessary but it doesn't ruin the track after all. pinkpantheress vocals on this ... read more
