Can't keep runnin' away from this type of music. I need more of it in my life

"Just because I like you, it doesn't mean I like you"
Pretty much how I feel about this EP, I'm fond of lo-fi gritty surf-punk music, especially as playful as King Gizzard's first steps. Because when you look at it, its music not brilliant but driven by the fun of it and only. I can see myself bobbing my head to it.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
94

I have no idea when Danny came up with this singing voice from all that was possible, but he made it really cool out of something that could easily sound like nails on a chalkboard
I just can't get over it how bizzarly well it fits his music

Fav song: Rolling Stone

Good Kid - Can We Hang Out Sometime?
36

Good Kid is pretty much a book stereotype of indie pop rock, it sounds exactly how you would imagine if you have no expectations, pretty bland. Neither writing, vocalist or instrumentals stood out and even though there are moments they try to, it doesn't fix much anyway.
There's also that odd mix of band trying to sound both raw garagy and squeaky clean, I don't really like it

Conrad Graham - Resonance (I Feel U)

Thx @congrammy for a rec

Its a pretty sounding stuff, got the pleasant spring vibes

Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Eddy Current Suppression Ring
70

It sounds pretty dusty, budged was probably so small, that they barely fit in their garage. Even though vocalist could be better and my expectations were bigger, there's something cool and fun about this kind of mid-tempo rock from somewhere in Australia. I also admit this band clearly got something to show.

Fav song: It's All Square

Royel Otis - Sweet Hallelujah

Add a second cat to the cover = double the chances of me stopping by

Amazing song btw

Floating Points - Crush

I'm growing a crush on this guy's music. Haha, you get it?
Crush because.. you know.. name of the album..
"funny"

(It was lowkey beautiful by the way)

heavensouls - westside trapped
86

You're missing a lot by skipping Heavensouls and his buddy Stickerbush (The Sidepeices - as a duo)

For their albums, I prefer Stickerbush take on whacky IDM (Leaper) a bit more than lager than life album of Heavensouls, which is a compliment to be clear. And about that, both, both are absolutely great at sounding heavenly and maximalistic to a very satysfying point. It takes a lot of talent to grind up so much shit together between the melancholic, otherwordly moments and make it sound so ... read more

Squarepusher - Kammerkonzert
55

Ngl, I'm a little disappointed, not that I do not appreciate Tom's branching out, I actually like the idea itself. Still, my problem with the album in shortcut is that its too chaotic. Well, thats expected from him, no big deal. But he sacrifices quite a lot for the sake of chaos. Kammerkonzert is just bizzare to the point I didn't felt much about it besides confusion. The almost total lack of direction in most songs is almost tiring, dragged too far. Its not the first time he ... read more

Turnstile - GLOW ON
71

Still an interesting phenomenon to me. Glow On is obviously better than their last album, which for me personaly failed to introduce me to the band. This one's the opposite, it actually makes me wanna both punch walls and hold onto pillows, blurring the diffrences between completely diffrent genres really damn well. I'm not gonna be a big fan, but I had my fun with Turnstile.

This album is also heavily carried by a great number of sick riffs

Fav song: Underwater Boi

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
92

It seems that I like my Boards of Canada with some folktronica to them a bit more, it adds that kind of crisp to their music that I felt is missing with my first listen. Well, I need to check out rest of their stuff to be sure, but so far I find it as their most charming and satysfying side.

Fav song: Dayvan Cowboy

Machine Girl - PsychoWarrior: MG Ultra X: The Remixes [Minus One]
68

Usualy I would not even think about touching a remix album, but for my favourite of Machine Girl's work and generally of last year's I could make an exception. Especially with a cover as sick as this one.

Its an usual case of songs that I would just not choose over the original ones. Aside of 3 maybe. But actually its still solid, especially that I'm used for average remix to be a pointless trash, its a pleasant surprise

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA

I wanted to write something ealier but I've got nothing honestly. Its just a good album, lmao. I had fun with it even though I've expected not much really. Reasonable hype
