man i hope im this sharp and driven at 83 too
fav song: down south
fav moment: "it was a good way to get to know you"
"a person should not believe in any "ism". to quote john lennon, 'i dont believe in beatles, i just believe in me'. after all, he was the walrus. i could be the walrus, and id still have to bum rides off people."
very vulnerable and lyrically interesting in a way i enjoy. if i had to get a john lyric tattooed, "god is a concept by which we measure our pain" would be top of the list. id have to give more than my two or three initial listens to see if ... read more
nothing crazy but i enjoyed it! you can definitely tell its paul lol. lots of gentle musings on love and sadness, its got those lovely melodies i expect when i put on a paul mccartney album. not too many songs that id consider beatles quality, but i understand its a transitional period for him.
fav song: that would be something
fav moment: maybe im crazy but the melody of every night def reminds me of you never give me your money, i wonder if it was intentional
shakespeare being listed as a writer over ringo is absolutely frying me
anyway this is an overlooked one but very fun. i have heard the movie is atrocious and i want to watch it very bad. the back half full of singles definitely does the heavy lifting here, but no bad songs necessarily. penny lane one of my fav songs ever forever and ever <3
fav song: penny lane
fav moment: chorus of penny lane
i cant believe i lost the ticketmaster war twice if i dont hear this live i will die a brutal death (pun intended)
this is the definition of "what the hell, sure"
i went into this completely blind and that is NOT what i expected from ringos first solo album LMAO but idk im kinda here for it!! not something id go to first when i want vocal jazz or something beatle-y, but it was a fun novelty and an enjoyable listen. i kinda came into this expecting 12 octopus gardens (octopuses gardens? octopi gardeni?) and i was laughably mistaken. is this what he was aching to create the whole time but the ... read more
listened to this in prep for watching get back a few weeks ago but put off reviewing it because i wasnt sure how to score it. now that its settled, though, i can confidently say its great. abbey road may feel like a more cohesive and logical ending to the bands career, but cmonnnn. cmonnnnnn its let it be. its great. it feels a little disjointed as a project compare to previous albums but its still a fantastic collection of songs. a great representation of how if you and your creative partners ... read more
thank you @godlinks for the rec! im a massive steely dan fan (steely fan? steely dancer?) so thank you for the excuse to let them skip the line while i log all my albums lolz
its no aja but its pretty damn good. one of those albums with a permanent slot on my summer driving mix. just banger after banger of awesome yacht rock. makes me feel like an old man who can cook the hell out of some barbeque while longing for my ex wife. i elect to ignore the fact that "only a fool would say ... read more
maybe i just have old-beatles fatigue from speedrunning their first 4 albums in a 48 hour span but this one didnt stand out to me too much. i mean its fine. its a competent album that is nice to listen to. if you wanna hear some more formulaic love ballads and american rock covers then here you go lol. theres a couple standouts i really loved, but knowing theyre gonna make help! right after this kinda makes it feel like a trudge to get through before you find the real gems.

a notch above the first two albums because its responsible for giving us the film of the same name, which i lalalalalove and have seen more times than i can count. best tracks are frontloaded for sure but pretty consistent quality overall, i was never not having a good time. if i fell is one of the most romantic songs ever i just adore it. ive heard some people say they find money cant buy me love annoying which makes me sad cuz its another fav of mine </3. id say this album is my favorite ... read more
i think about "all my loving" playing at the hospital when john died every day of my life </3
feels a little less polished than their debut but i still enjoyed it. "little child" did make me deeply uncomfortable even though i know they dont mean it literally. but like why would they say it like that im dying. just more of the good stuff from my boys
fav song: till there was you
fav moment: that plucky guitar on till there was you is cutie
im doing a school project that requires me to listen/relisten to a bunch of beatles stuff so expect much beatles posting in the near future!!
this is such a cute kickstart to their career i adore it. its simple and silly, funny to listen knowing the kind of stuff they would make in the future. just some heartwarming tunes with some lovely vocal harmonies. i wish george got some more opportunities to do lead vocals, his young voice is very sweet and cute to me lol

thank you @godlinks for the rec!!
frankly shifted my perspective on what i consider an album to even be. the structure is so unique i really gotta get into more prog and experimental stuff like this. not to mention those groovy melodies and spectacular guitar work. it feels so attentive to detail, i will definitely need to give it more than these first few listens i gave to really peel back all the layers. if i smoked pot this would probably be a 10 LMAO

i somehow missed revolver when i was posting all my beatles reviews omg i need to be put down. anyway omg revolver is so damn good even though i find the album cover terrifying and would not like to look at it again. a lot of the tracks have this very intimate, gentle feeling that i adore. and you know i just love when that sitar comes in oooooough. here there and everywhere is also a contender for my all-time fav beatles track its so romantic and gorgeous ugh i could listen to it all day. ... read more
album club pick 5/6/26-5/13/26
in the best way possible, i didnt have to check the release date to know it was from 2009. so reminiscent of all the fun pop punk stuff going on at the time while still being very unique and a bit heavier (well, heavy from the perspective of someone who listens to 70s soft rock and girly pop stars lol). the breakdowns were fun i definitely busted a move. only a handful of songs id go back to personally but still a good time.

GLASS BEACH BROKE UP BEFORE I GOT TO SEE THEM IN CONCERT WHATS EVEN THE POINT OF LIVING ANYMORE
this is the first album i ever bought on vinyl (not the first i owned but, like, first that wasn't a gift), and it came with this giant poster that remained on my wall for the entirety of high school. showing bedroom commuity to a 15 year old closet lesbian with only online friends is kind of like setting off a bomb so this album will be so important to me forever and ever. jam packed with ... read more
when ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ we ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ was ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ fab ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
this is just george having some fun and playing some guitar like hell yeah. cloud nine is the sexiest song ive ever heard in my life, got my mind set on you is always fun, just some good tunes from a legend. when we was fab is so beautiful as well ough i cant imagine the nostalgia that comes with being a former beatle.
fav song: cloud nine
fav moment: the guitar on cloud nine hooooly
"i love dih in the morning i love dih every evening" - george harrison
i hate to say it cuz i adore the beatles, but being confined to a band was absolutely holding george back. such beautiful musings on love and faith and life. you can definitely feel the influence of bob dylan and the other american rock acts that were popular at the time on this one. his writing has such a way of hitting your emotional core and making you well up with emotion. its also soooo timeless, which like ... read more
glass animals being known as the heatwaves guys will actually be the death of me. yall know im a sucker for a good concept album/storytelling gimmick, and each song representing one of the characters on the album cover was interesting enough to hook me. if any of these songs got the heatwaves treatment they would definitely get very annoying very fast lol but as a whole album its a fun listen. the production and instrumentation are clearly the highlight here so i dont mind the vocals being ... read more
cute and sonically unique but not something i really go back to. which is unusual because i typically love stripped back acoustic stuff, but her voice does get a bit grating for me. i did like the lyricism though, they have a very specific vibe theyre great at crafting. the people i know who love this album really love it and i get why. the scrappy nostalgic feel is cute when im not being turned away by other factors. the way they paint being a young girl is cuttingly accurate on the title ... read more
