Colony House - Only The Lonely
70

a little too long and a little too samey, but still lands a spot on my summer rotation every year. if you like this album you should totally listen to the band coastal club theyre kind of this vibe. nothing much to sink your teeth into artistically but it is a lot of simple fun for the summer sun.

fav song: you & i
fav moment: the beginning of you know it is so bubbly and cute

Coheed and Cambria - The Color Before the Sun
80

the first album i ever got on vinyl! (i dont collect anymore, but its laying around my house somewhere). this is def a nostalgia record for me, i grew up listening to this one basically on the daily (sorry to anyone i just made feel ancient, but this did come out when i was 9). this is probably as hard as my taste in rock gets lmao. the guitars are rockin, the songwriting is bangin, i love it.

fav song: atlas (this song makes me cry actual tears icl)
fav moment: chorus of atlas

Clairo - Charm
92

i ALMOST went to the charm tour but decided not to WHY DID I DO THAT OMFG. i was familiar with clairo for her hits prior to this album coming out (bags, amoeba, i was even bumping flaming hot cheetos back in the day lmao), but this was my first time listening to an album of hers in full, and she did not disappoint! its so soft and smooth. the baby bunny rabbit of albums.

fav song: nomad
fav moment: the piano in juna is so warm and lovely

chloe moriondo - rabbit hearted.
50

kind of boring on an objective level, but some nostalgia tracks that still get to me. very very cutesy indie tumblr girl core which can kind of get grating after a while. chloe will make much better music once she gets that rock edge later in her career.

fav song: silly girl
fav moment: chorus of silly girl

chloe moriondo - Spirit Orb
65

this was my shit in 2020 omgg. dont revisit it much now but upon refreshing myself its pretty fun, very of its time though. just a cute little indie rock jam nothing too crazy.

fav song: bugbear
fav moment: the guitars on the chorus for bugbear are better than i remember

Chet Baker - Chet Baker Sings
90

man this one just hits you in the feels doesnt it. chet u are a legend. this is one of my go to albums to put on at work because i know i wont accidentally play something with an explicit lyric that'll make my boss mad lol. nothing thatll blow your socks off but it doesnt have to, it just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling old jazz always does.

fav song: i get along without you very well (except sometimes) (one of my favorite songs of all time EVERR)
fav moment: "except perhaps in ... read more

Charli xcx - how i'm feeling now
88

#ilikedparty4ubeforeitblewup jk im not a gatekeeper like that. i love how introspective she got during lockdown like this truly is the pre-brat. more experimental than crash which i like.

fav song: party 4 u
fav moment: that party 4 u bridge is soo cinematic i love

82

this lowkey being rina's last hurrah before they locked her in the khia asylum #freemygirl. anyway its no brat but its pretty good. just some clean, objectively well written club bangers. i imagine someone who just hopped on the brat bandwagon might be underwhelmed, but as a semi-long time fan ive always loved crash (this is actually the album that put me onto charli as a real artist and not just the "boom clap girl")

fav song: yuck
fav moment: the way she says "put it in ... read more

Charli xcx - Brat and it's completely different but also still brat
95

i do prefer the base album overall, but there are a handful of remixes i do prefer! i like that it wasnt just the og + a feature, each song really felt like a reimagined version of itself.

fav song: everything is romantic (im just a huge carolin polachek stan)
fav moment: that little synth melody in troye's verse (0:58ish) on talk talk, i always joke that it sounds like troye sivan's boss theme lmao

Charli xcx - BRAT
95

BUMPIN THATTTTTTTT!!!!! this album gives me flashbacks to how freakin good pop music was in 2024 like it was staaaacked. and as far as mainstream stuff goes this was the crown jewel of the year. the thing i most adore about brat isnt just the amazing beats or the catchy melodies, but how deep and varied the topics of her songwriting are. she talks about things like jealousy, the industry pitting women against eachother, complicated friendships, grief, love, nostalgia and childhood, generational ... read more

CHAI - WINK
75

cute! nothing super substantial i could sink my teeth into, but its very good for what it is. very light and bubbly, most songs easily make it into my "music i can listen to when i have a migraine that wont make it worse" playlist (yes that is a real playlist i have. lots of chai and lots of clairo).

fav song: its vitamin c
fav moment: i love the beat of donuts mind if i do, very chill and catchy

Addison Rae - Addison
81

is she the best vocalist? no. is she a polished enough live performer to be doing tours and live shows already? probably also no. but did i have a hell of a time listening to this thing? ABSOLUTELY I DID. the lana influence is heavy and the style is soo well cultivated. i dont think this'll be Dated necessarily, but itll definitely be what people point to when describing what was "cool" in the time it came out. theres a little filler but mostly bangers all around.

fav song: ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Denial
85

i think this is their only album that comes close to beating my beloved spectacular amazing twin fantasy. ive heard people who dont even like csh admit they enjoy a song or two off this album.

fav song: fill in the blank
fav moment: chorus of fill in the blank

Car Seat Headrest - Starving While Living
80

hard for me to give a higher rating to a 5 song ep but this ones pretty all killer no filler. the opener and closer are the clear standouts, but the rest are awesome too. its got that classic raw, grungy feel you go to CSH for.

fav song: oh! starving or its only sex
fav moment: his softer tone on oh! starving is pretty unique to the rest of their catalogue, i really love it

Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Style
77

its classic CSH, if you liked twin fantasy youll like this one. oh! starving is an all-timer for me, and theres a handful of other highlights as well.

fav song: oh! starving
fav moment: the buildup in los barrachos ("i miss those good ol boys)

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
90

nothing beats listening to this album while staring out the window at night on a road trip. theres such a uniquely raw and emotional quality to the songwriting here, and will toledo's emotive and loser-like (in a good way) voice matches it perfectly. felt like reading straight out of his journal

fav song: bodies
fav moment: "give me frank oceans voice and james browns stage presence"

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
100

if you put "stunning vocal harmonies" into google, itll just give you a picture of brian wilson. RIP to the best to ever do it.

fav song: god only knows
fav moment: "god only knows where i'd be without you"

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You
98

imogen heap if she took the substance. i dont think ive ever heard a soundscape this lush, this record is soo creative and so much fun. when she says "welcome to my island" she is literally introducing you to the new glamorous world youll be in for the next 45 minutes. not to mention how talented caroline is as a vocalist like omfg idk how she does it. PLEASE do a tour queen i will be FRONT MF ROW.

fav song: blood and butter
fav moment: the bridge of welcome to my island like ... read more

Carole King - Tapestry
98

its like a warm blanket on a crisp autumn day. i love me some singer songwriter classics. the joyful songs are so lively and timeless, and the downtempo stuff is such an emotional gutpunch. every indie singer-songwriter girl of today has carole king to thank. an icon, a legend, a classic.

fav song: i feel the earth move
fav moment: "doesn't anybody stay in one place?"

Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time
83

def could tell that this was just cutting room floor stuff from loneliest time, but that album is so good even the scraps are peak. more of the good stuff from miss carly.

fav song: shy boy
fav moment: that little dance beat in psychedelic switch okayyyyy
