wowww so so serene and lush. if you like synths and strings check this ep out. it reminds me so much of another artist i just cant put my finger on it
fav song: waking up in a dream
fav moment: that string section about 1:45 into newspapers and magazines
very punchy and fun! just hard for me to give a higher score to a 4 song ep, but definitely shows his potential. feels very dreamy and otherworldly in a way i love. great work!
fav song: landline
fav moment: the guitar in landline is heavenly
this is just one of those albums that speaks to my soul. it feels like a soft warm hug. vienna makes me sob, SFAIR is arguably the best song in his entire discography, shes always a woman is one of the most romantic songs ever, i just go nuts for this thing every time. where would i be without the stranger omg. an absolutely perfect masterpiece. billy joel u are like a father to me
fav song: scenes from an italian restaurant
fav moment: the lyricism in vienna, every teen/college aged girl i ... read more
THE BIG BJ BACK AT IT AGAINNNNNNNN!!!!! just saw a billy tribute band the other night so that might be inflating the score slightly, but idgaf ive always adored this album. big shot is such an electric (figuratively) choice for an opener, and zanzibar is such an all time great. ily billy!
fav track: zanzibar
fav moment: the horns on zanzibar sooooo freakin good
when act III comes out and yall pretend you werent hating on this album, just know I REMEMBER. i think what gets lost in translation on this album is that people expect it to be a pure country album, when its really meant to be a (an?) homage. classic beyonce with a country twang. and its very good at being that!! i think texas hold em was also not a great choice for the single, easily one of the weakest and easy to become annoying tracks (though i dont HATE it like some). this things got ... read more
a couple standouts but overall didn't make me feel any particular way. from the songs ive heard their newer music is a vast improvement. the lead singers vocals are much more suited for their upbeat tunes, the downtempo stuff is really what dragged it down for me. but on the more positive side, some of the poppier tracks (CCOSW, HSIACC, Sun Machine) are worth a listen. very cute diy vibe but dont see myself coming back to more than like 2 songs. i do like following these folks on instagram ... read more
i grew up seeing the billie phenomenon but never really got into her until this album came out, and upon listening i must say... shes pretty talented! the album itself felt a little disjointed, but the indiviual songs are all pleasant. nothing it particular really stuck with me even after a couple listens, but i was never not enjoying myself. i think the hits on this album will stick around for years to come.
fav song: the greatest
fav moment: the beat on birds of a feather, it feels very ... read more
BYOP rocks through this album with a perpetual sarcastic sneer that i just adore. you can taste the influence of bikini kill, sleater-kinney, all those riot grrl classics. songs i would skateboard to if i knew how to skateboard.
fav song: the kelly affair
fav moment: technically off the deluxe, but the way she says "cry a little bit at lunch" on becky is so satisfying.
maybe im nostalgic but critic score of 66 has me genuinely slackjawed this is fabuloussssss. my second fav behind renaissance. i just love seeing her be loud and proud. irreplaceable is a "child of divorce mamas girl" classic. deja vu is the song i always decide to try and karaoke and then remember how hard it is to sing, then gain a whole new appreciation for it. love it!
fav song: deja vu
fav moment: chorus of deja vu, those horns are the perfect touch (less of a touch, more of a ... read more
i had no business listening to blow on the way to school every day when i was 14 LMAO. i think she's put out better work (i prefer her more loud and bombastic stuff) but this cooler, darker vibe really works for her. i cannot BELIEVE these songs are about jay-z of all people all due respect. "he monica lewinskied all on my gown" is one of her craziest lyrics ever im crying. beyonce the goat.
fav song: drunk in love
fav moment: the bridge of blow is sooo addictive
album club pick 5/27/26-6/4/26
i will never forgive the grammys for snubbing this for aoty. harry styles over this masterpiece?!?!?!?! the bad bitch i become when PURE/HONEY comes on must be studied. my favorite beyonce album by a longshot. such a rich appreciation for the history and culture of house music, and the beats are amazing. i actually wrote an essay about this album for a media studies exam lmao i love it so much.

fav moment: that last "sooooo ... read more
pinkpanthress nachos heated to a fine crisp, love it! enjoy yourself was one of my top streamed songs last year; some of the songs are just alright but the standouts are bangin. highly recommend if you want some fun dance pop!!
fav song: enjoy yourself
fav moment: "make it just make SEENSE babyyyy"
supalonely is a standout on a listenable, decent ep. its cute and poppy but doesn't really hold my attention. i still bump supalonely every summer in the big 26 though i gotta be honest.
fav song: supalonely
fav moment: "lalalala loooonely"
this one is so lovely!! i saw the fab four tribute band tour with a focus on this album and it was such a great experience i had the time of my life. nothing crazy experimental like a sgt. pep, but just consistent, classic tunes. forever upset they didn't end on "yesterday", would've been a generational closing track.
fav song: you've got to hide your love away
fav moment: the "hey!"s in "you've got to hide your love away. so fun to sing along with.
THEE most underrated beatles album, and my favorite album of the 1960s periodddd. you can really tell they were trying to flex their creative muscles here and it panned out so so well. this one feels more... personable? not quite. it brings a certain feeling that other beatles albums don't do for me. it feels like a warm hug while staring at a sunset. it feels like im trapped inside the strings of george's bass and i just gotta feel the music while im in there. its just spectacular. ... read more
so so phenomenal and so so fascinating in the beatles' discography. really the record that changed everything. the decadent sound really has that je na sais quoi. its just perfect in a way i cant describe. constantly in a tussle with rubber soul for my #1.
fav song: when im sixty-four (also my favorite beatles song of all time)
fav moment: call me crazy but i really love That Part in "a day in the life". so unique
genuinely no clue how i feel about this one; on one hand, it has some of the best songs in the beatles discography, and in the history of music. but its just bloated with soooo much fluff its nuts. as much as i dont desire to listen to listen to wild honey pie ever again, somewhere under the fluff is the greatest beatles album ever made.
edit: i bumped up the rating cuz the good songs are just so damn good
fav song: i will
fav moment: the guitar riff in while my guitar gently weeps, duh
i never understood the idea of "lockdown nostalgia" until i relistened to honeymoon and remembered that this came out when i was 14. feels like a more light and optimistic time even though i was miserable when i first listened. such is the nature of nostalgia. love you lili.
fav song: ms. california
fav moment: the syncopated rhythm (is that the right term?) with the lyrics on "cuffing season" (just 🎸 an 🎸empty 🎸 promise 🎸)
im a sucker for some beach bunny, one of the first soft/indie rock bands I fell in love with in middle school, so we go way back. this album is objectively a nice maturing of their sound, but I prefer the more bubbly vibe of their older stuff. still a pleasant listen nonetheless!
fav song: entropy
fav moment: that little melody in "deadweight" (holding ME so selfishLY)
yall are lucky i wasnt alive back then because i wouldve been hitting the blues/jazz clubs like crazy. b.b king is a legend and this is exactly what tou think it is going into it: b.b king singing some songs and being cool. if you like blues youll like it and if you dont then you wont.
fav song: you done lost your good thing now
fav moment: those energetic opening guitars on "please love me", i would've gone crazy if i was there
