Bad Bunny - DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS
80

i think a lot of my enjoyment of this album was influenced by how charmed i am by him as a public figure, and that he gave the best halftime performance since the weeknd in 2021. the music being awesome helps too, these are some of the most danceable beats ive heard in a hot second. he has a great ability to convery emotion in his voice; i don't speak a word of spanish but that chorus in "dtmf" still hit me in the gut. itll definitely grow on me more with future listens, i really ... read more

Aziya - We Speak of Tides

cute little sampling of indie rock, id totally recommend checking it out if you have 15 minutes to spare. nothing too crazy but very catchy and aziya's voice has a rich quality to it that i enjoy. kind of a dreamlike, psychedelic vibe at times. the closer is definitely a highlight.

fav song: over again
fav moment: that opening guitar riff in "over again" is aaaawesome

Arlie - Wait

revisiting this one for the sake of review and quite enjoyed it! definitely going on my summer driving playlist for this year. its got that chill, strung out vibe; very retro without boxing itself into a specific era of inspiration. cute!

fav song: big fat mouth
fav song: the last chorus in big fat mouth, feels like sunshine :)

Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine

ARIANA my city to the eternal sunshine tour and you will be reborn as a lotus flower. i was shocked at how much i loved this one considering i disliked "yes, and" when it came out; that turned out to be the only song i wasn't jiving with, the rest was fantastic. it has a sense of gentleness that hasn't been seen to this extent in past records, which is a look i adore on her. her voice here is soft and saccharine sweet. excited to see clips of her performing this live.

Ariana Grande - Sweetener

this is absolutely a modern pop bible and her best record to date. i really love that light and airy sound she achieves here; as much as i love loud and bombastic ari (greedy, 7 rings, etc.), this is such a breath of fresh air. i will never forgive the person who told me successful sounds like resetti's theme from animal crossing, because i will NEVER UNHEAR IT. ariana being an imogen heap fan and covering goodnight n go is so important to my pop nerd heart, i need an ariana + imogen + ... read more

Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman

CUZ IM SO GREEDYYYYYYYYY OOOOOOOO this is a great album to show off ari's pure vocal chops. one of those albums i put on when ive had a rough day to pump me back up. she tries a bit of everything influence-wise here, but one thing is pretty consistent: this thing is LOUDDDDDDD and i LOVE that.

fav song: greedy
fav moment: those synth pulses in into you are the best moment in her entire discography. period.

100 gecs - 1000 gecs
68

not something i often find myself reaching for after first listen but it was alright! makes me wanna drink and monster and go on a run. i will not forget "your arms look like little cigarettes" as long as i live.

fav song: ringtone
fav moment: the intro to ringtone, i think its so cute lol

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
83

definitely the most raw, garage-rock sound ive heard from them, and it suits them well! very energetic as well, really gets you up and pumping. i listen to this one in the gym a fair amount actually lol.

fav song: when the sun goes down
fav moment: when the guitar kicks in on "dont you know" in when the sun goes down, it gets me so hyped

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
95

YES YES YESSSS the soundtrack of my early high school days, i probably know every word front to back (or at least i did at some point). their best album easily. has that perfect mix of classic guitar rock and that sleazy smooth vibe. the guitar work is an easy standout here, from carrying you through a dreamlike state on only ones who know, to blowing your mind on brianstorm, its just perfect. im also always a sucker for alex's voice. wonderful work.

Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

UNDERRATED AF i love the whole lounge singer thing they went for here. songs can start to feel a bit samey at times but considering they're all good i don't mind too much. i really love how rich in concept this one is. why make a regular rock album when you can make a jazzy lounge album about a space hotel. hell yeah!

fav song: she looks like fun
fav moment: the first line of the whole album being "i just wanted to be one of the strokes" like yes me too alex. me too

Arctic Monkeys - AM
70

its a classic but it always makes me sad that it gets so much more attention than their other work. its solid alternative rock but it never really anything interesting enough to shake me. that being said, i do appreciate the consistent quality, you know what you're getting right from the first song. and yes like every other high school girl i wanted to be arabella so bad. i like it but favourite worst nightmare deserves the praise this one gets.

Amy Winehouse - Frank

preferring this album to back to black is one of my more controversial takes, but this one just feels so much more raw and personal. while back to black feels like you're listening to a clean, well constructed masterpiece, frank, with its more stripped-back sound, feels like you're reading straight out of amy's diary. albums like that have always been more compelling to me than the traditionally "perfect" ones. in my bed is my favorite song of her entire discography, ... read more

Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

i will glaze amy winehouse until the end of time, what a generational talent. one of my favorite parts about this record is how timeless it is; while i love the sonic trends of the 2000s, amy rejects them in favor of an era she loves, which totally lets her passion for music shine through. amy's gritty but angelic voice was made for this kind of music. i would've loved to see what she would've made today. damn.

Alice Longyu Gao - Let’s Hope Heteros Fail, Learn, and Retire

listening to this a year before gnarly came out prepped my to understand the vision. anyway if you release your inhabitions and let yourself be a lil silly this album is a lot of fun and you will have a great time. i really cant think of anything else that sounds like it (in a good way)

fav song: intro
fav moment: the abundance of car horn noises in hellœ kitty

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
100

i spent $104 to see her last minute in vegas the night of the show and its the best $104 ive ever spent. i absolutely adore alanis as an artist, as an icon, and as a woman. this album is simultaneously so raw and real and so clean and polished, she pulls that balance off really well.

fav song: head over feet
fav moment: when the bass kicks in right on "version" in the beginning of you oughta know, just creates that bit of a sinister vibe i adore

Adele - 25
85

a more mature version of 21. if you can believe it lol

fav song: water under the bridge
fav moment: beginning of the chorus of all i ask, the longing in her voice is so palpable

Adele - 21
85

songwriting is great but its the raw vocal talent that carries it to the finish line. you dont need me to tell you shes a once in a generation vocal talent. also her covering the cure is so random but so so perfect.

fav song: someone like you
fav moment: the ending of rumour has it where the instrumental ends and you get that emphasis on her isolated vocals ughhhh so good

ABBA - Voulez-Vous
95

definitely the most danceable of their records, and in terms of hits this thing is stacked. im gonna be 80 still busting a move to does your mother know. fantastic record. also critic score of 65?!?!??! i thought this was universally beloved thats nuts.

fav song: angeleyes
fav moment: those "aha!"s in voulez-vous never get old

ABBA - The Visitors
89

love seeing them take a bit more of a gentle and serious turn on this one. saw mamma mia on tour with my mom and burst into real actual tears during slipping through my fingers.

fav song: slipping through my fingers
fav moment: those angelic vocals during the stmf chorus oh god im crying now again

ABBA - Super Trouper
95

my favorite abba record and for good reason. both the hits and the deepcuts are great. and boy are there hits on this thing; lay all your love on me, our last summer, WINNER TAKES IT ALL?! versatile songwriting makes me dance and tear up within seconds of eachother. love it.

fav song: winner takes it all
fav moment: intro to lay all your love on me. love when you can recognize a song in a single beat.
