PARTYNEXTDOOR is getting his aura contract revoked for this one. Whole album is just boring sex R&B. If this playing at your crib it may not scare the bitches but it will scare the RYM bitches.
The lack of diversity in the songs substance wise isn't a drawback necessarily, I like sexy, moody R&B but OVO really needa burn dawg's contract kos this is pretttyyyyy shameless. The only message I get from this is that Jahron spends most of his time in drug induced mini-comas where he runs ... read more
I'm ngl I kinda hated ts first few listens but NOW I get it. This song is too good I just want to inject it into my veins. ESPECIALLY that ending tho.
This is the gayest thing I’ve ever heard (I’m not saying this in a homophobic way it just genuinely is, I have two mums guys I’m cool).
Super dope collaboration though from these two leather strapped brothers. Lowkey Willie Nelson is the only iron hipped ancient person who could make a song like this and no one would give him shit for it kos he’s just chill like that. I promise you this song will make your day a little better. Another day another win for the community.
I’m a big fan of Beyoncé’s will to experiment on COWBOY CARTER. Of course I think it was really daring to make a commercial country album but with the dance and opera elements it winds up to be an incredible success of genre blending. I think COWBOY CARTER is divine in its female empowerment and witty western badass-ness.
However there is an elephant in the room in the shape of 30 second intervals between the track list that virtually say nothing and just feature the ... read more
Came for the inventive synth pop everyone was talking about. Left with a new perspective but only a few cool takeaways.
This Aborted album completely shook me. I enjoyed every single song here and I felt like I was chained in this Vault of Horrors for 40 breathtaking minutes. I really think this will be my death metal album of the year.
EDIT: okay ngl as the year progressed this loss the same tang I felt when I first heard it. I think I might have had a pinch of recency bias.
This really solidifies a turning point in a once legendary legacy this man upheld. At a time I would have called Ye my favourite artist, or to have made my favourite song, or to have made one of my favourite albums of all time. Now I'm ashamed. Not because of what other people think but because I guess I never really knew the man I used to call the GOAT.
I really didn't like VULTURES 1. Some people like to point at Yeezus or Donda for having his worst writing, this just blows both of them out ... read more
I love this fusion of trap and jazz rap, this is precisely unique and is crazy creative. There are some sleepers on here that slow things down but Q is in his groove the whole time. BLUE LIPS is a hype beast party at times and next moment a somber jazz night, there is great variety on here that still holds a vision. It's roots are tangled in many stories and lessons learned by Q it seems, but he is also able to keep the record's tone deep while also leaving in those essential ScHoolboyQ club ... read more
This is pretty great. St. Vincent is in action here with one of her most violently offensive singles which is a bit eccentric for her but it’s excellent. I’m not getting as much out of it as others so I’ll return to this throughout the week but my mind already feels pretty made up. This new album is gonna kick ass and I’m here for it.
I’m sick and tired of these sugar sweet melodies and childish undertones that are laying in plane sight. They are a complete turn off for me because I don’t feel like I’m listening to a piece of purposefully prepared and properly conceived art but more of an addictive piece of ear candy that was made to appeal to people with childhood based nostalgia. This is perfectly evidenced by the infectiously cringe hook where Bella sings “Lalalalalalalalalalalalalala” in an ... read more
This is some of the funniest and most light hearted face value rapping you will ever hear and it is incredible. Obviously the influence and legacy 6 Kiss holds is no secret to people anymore but if you haven’t heard this and you like hip-hop music you just have to try this at some point in your life, its really just that good.
There are deep cuts like the first two songs which by the way HAVE to be condensers in any best hip-hop songs of all time list. There are also reflective songs ... read more
Strong start with a slow diminishing decline. The Butcher rarely misses and once again he delivers some of his finest meat in this latest edition. Everybody Can’t Go has some of my favourite Benny tracks to date, it’s impressive stadium status sound is a benchmark for Griselda’s success that hasn’t seen a halt yet.
The album is filled with many classic collaborators and well documented MCs who benny has no trouble working with using his signature flow. You could say ... read more
This is the first new song from 2024 I’ve listened to and it was awesome.
Lego Ring is a great blend of worlds from both rock stars, the concept is a little different but it remains cute and innocent. Faye Webster bodies this song with her deep and clear singing, my favourite part is when she resets and goes back to her lower register after the chorus with the striking guitars which sound soul bound next to her. Yachty and Webster make a great team on the hook where both artists use ... read more
One of the most legendary crossovers of all time and they did not miss.
Conway can rhyme like no one else, this dude really is a machine. He doesn't just hold his head up but he uplifts the songs when Conductor Williams is lacking. For example Blessings Of The King has an awful loop that interferes with Conway's performance for the worse, you truly have to be a beast to be able rap over something like this. The redeem-ability comes from the intelligent skills brought by the machine but otherwise I am not a fan of this song and I can't enjoy it. Moving onto Believe ... read more
I can't lie this is a contender for most disappointing moment on Every Hero Needs a Villain. The DOOM bars go harder than ever and so does Inspectah Deck's but Esoteric steals the show and my heart with his. I think Ka-Bang needed a better beat to go along with the hero and villain because the simplicity of it doesn't really go hand in hand with the rappers amazing performances.
Zig is one of the worst songs I have ever heard in my life. Give me my two and a half minutes back Poppy!
Zig the album however is kind of decent. The electro-industrial production is very professional and well mixed which can be rare for rave music but Poppy clearly knows what she’s doing. There is definitely an itch here that some of these songs scratch but certainly don’t make it go away, kind of like a mosquito bite. The choruses are mostly there except for a couple hiccups ... read more
