She has a very nice voice
It’s a shame it belongs to a person like her 🫤
I'll be honest, given the ratings and the comparisons with her other work, Reputation being actually pretty decent came as a surprise to me.
I Did Something Bad and Don't Blame Me are bangers, Getaway car is a masterpiece, and New Year's Day spits you out on the other side on a folklore kind o' note. And as far as radio music goes, Look What You Made Me Do is top tier. The whole thing is a bit of a rollercoaster with some kinda meh points, only to drag you in again with another good ... read more
I thought this album was meh when I first listened to it. Having said that, I was playing it through my headphones in the office at the time… in hindsight not the best setting.
Having heard it again, I think it has some fantastic tracks on it, and is definitely worth revisiting if you didn’t like it first time
Negatives: this album falls flat when Olivia tries to be another artist.
For example love is embarrassing, which sounds like a Kelly Clarkson song. Lacy and The Grudge ... read more
Should've been album of the year 🥲
Love the energy of tracks like C'est Comme Ça and You First. Not as good as After Laughter and Self-Titled though
For an album about AI, it's weirdly relatable.
This album is like one of those dreams that feels too real, and Uncanny Valley is literally the perfect name for this album. Like, the production feels cloudy and a tad distorted, but is complemented by quite piercingly crisp sounds, as if you're not quite certain if the whole thing real or not.
This sounds heavily inspired by The Black Parade in places and has some uncanny similarities (Death Dance and Dead!, and You'll Be Fine and Mama). Having said that, it never feels tacky. It didn't suffer from the same problem as Side A which was far too bloated.
Has some fun songs like Teenage Heartbreak Queen and Mrs Infamous, and Dying in a Hot Tub was also a banger.
Has some tracks that are awesome, but I'd say about half of it is quite forgettable.
Favourites: Kissaphobic, Last December
Blonde carries this album.
Peach (Lobotomy) and Not Warriors are good.
Everything else is meh.
Unlike their last album, too many misses, not enough hits. Kinda disappointing.
One of my favourite albums. It just all flows so well, the energy of the tracks contrast nicely into one package and it feels like a (mostly) consistent experience. Also the intro gives me chills.
I love this album... right up until everything after Fruit Rollups, where it all goes south. If they'd cut everything after that, then my average rating for this album would literally be ten points higher. I literally stop listening to the album after that song.
I listened to this when it first came out and thought it was boring.
I get it now.
Love the David Bowie influences on tracks like Body Paint. This thing is pretty severely underrated.
Gonna say some positives about this song:
- It was probably a good idea in their heads.
- It's not as bad as I thought it was gonna be.
- The chorus is kinda a vibe compared to the original.
That's all I've got. His cheerleader voice works for the chorus but just sounds super tacky in the verse. The verse is hard to follow as he tries to fit too much in and does some weird distribution with the syllables. While the original succeeded off being staccato and frantic, Fall Out Boy's version ... read more
ONE TWO PANDEMONIUM
On this album all I could think of was Neotheatre, but much more mature. This album has the best opening and finale of any of their albums. They've mostly progressed past the whole not wanting to grow up theme, and their lyrics are overall better in this instalment.
Their production seems to have progressed quite a bit as well. As much as I love their album The Click, the RANDOM SCREAMING AND WAILING was a little over the top sometimes. There's none of that in this album, ... read more
I'm an AJR fan (seen 'em live) and while I know that that's a crime on this website, I don't think the average current user score is too unjust. It is OK. The production is pretty unique. But the lyrics don't really do it justice, and there are gonna be better songs on this album.
