Chris Christodoulou - Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void

This is one of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time, and it's for a fucking DLC. Chris Christodoulou cooked so hard that he made the final boss a sax solo

Sparkbird - After The Ball
90

A collection of what I believe to be Sparkbird's finest work, After the Ball is a quirky, lyrically dense beyond imagination, and overall just a jolly fun time, and I enjoyed every second of it. From the dramaticness of The Light That Comes Through to the sheer sarcasm in the title track, the botany filled lyrics of Arboretum and the incredible strings in Mayday!, this album is simply a treat.

Strange Thick - Strange Thick
87

How has no one reviewed this yet?
One of Will Wood's later pre-tapeworms projects, Strange Thick presents some of the most sane music from this era of his music, despite being quite unhinged in a vacuum. Fun, intriguing lyrics, great instrumentations and backing tracks, and overall a good time. Really wish I could get ahold of this on Spotify.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
99

If absurdism had a music equivalent, this would be a prime example. Deeply unsettling, downright insane lyrics go along like bread and platypus butter with Jeff Mangum's incredibly unique voice to form something that captivates and astounds at the same time.

twenty one pilots - twenty | one | pilots
89

Okay, so this album grew off me. I don't like it as much anymore, it's like my fourth favorite pilots album. Still a lot of great stuff here but Tyler sounds annoying as fuck and needs to go drink some water and some of these songs are boring as shit to listen to after I had my obsession phase with them. The writing and lyrics are great, though, and those are some of the best bits. Taxi Cab, Pantaloon, Isle of Flightless Birds and Implicit Demand for Proof still slap though. Johnny ... read more

I used to do them exclusively, I would say some bullshit that had nothing to do with anything, hit post and get on with it. but something in me felt wrong doing that, so I violently pivoted after around 100 of these airy bubbles of nothing and I started writing actual reviews and I actually feel like I can call this thing I do a hobby now. Despite my reviews getting an average of maybe one like I feel really good about what I write and I'm glad I'm past the silly little one line farts I used to do"
