Happy April Fools! This review is not, in fact, a joke.
Slint's "Spiderland" is... mostly spoken word post-rock, as far as I understand it. Going right into the album I was pleasantly surprised by the interesting storytelling and the way that the guitar was done, I looked into what the time signature for "Breadcrumb Trail" is and I was shocked to see that it's mostly in 7/4 with some shifting other times mixed in, a really uncommon time that made the song really ... read more
Single/EP Tuesday part one!
Today is the third weekly Tuesday, just before the closing of March, the weather is weird, the politics are weird, I feel weird, and the music is hella weird to go right along with it. For my first selection of music today I decided to listen to, per @thekitchenfloor's request, Quadeca's newest project, the ambient "i.ii.iii".
The first track off this album, finale (side note, I love that the first song is called finale. If these end up on a ... read more
My namesake sings these songs!
So my dad told me once that he secretly named me after Trey Anastasio and that he never told my mom, but for some reason I've never heard a single Phish song in my entire life. Since I've been doing these reviews, I thought, why not use this as an excuse to finally hear some Phish?
Bro there are literally noses wearing shoes walking around on the album cover, this is Mr. Bungle but goofier and more unserious. Cinema.

EDIT: 100 --> 98:
I know that my entire original review was about why this is a 100/100. BUT. It's really long and difficult to get into, and I don't really think it works for me as a perfect album. It's really damn good though.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 100/100
I only ever really give albums 100 out of 100 when they truly mean something to me and I have zero problems with them. Do I have problems with this album? No. It is perfect. Does ... read more

EDIT: 100 --> 2nd favorite album of all time
This album is the best. It's the best album. It's my second favorite because of the special place in my heart Will Wood's "In Case I Make It" holds but this is the best album. Even if every song but LONG SEASON - Live was dogshit this would be the best album. It's unbelievable. AND THEY PERFORMED THIS LIVE.

Moya - 10/10
BBF3 - 10/10
I was so, so wrong.
This song is good. Why did I think it was bad? I'll tell you. It's cause I thought hip-hop was bad. Do I think hip-hop is bad now? Fuck no, it's one of my favorite genres. This song is really, really good. It's a generational bop, even. It has great rapping, a great beat, horrifying lyrics, and is just such a trip. Each section has a different feel to it and yet it still feels so cohesive, I just adore this. I can't believe how wrong I was. ... read more
What just happened?
Well, here we are: listening to long-ass songs and asking what on earth could have gone through the creators' heads when making it, part four!
After my experiences with Godspeed You! Black Emperor's "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven", The Caretaker's "Everywhere at the End of Time", and recently boris' "flood", I've had my fair share of experiences with songs that are longer than the final episode of ... read more

I was going to listen to this for a major milestone, 111 albums (that number is very special to me for reasons I won't touch on right now), but I simply couldn't wait.
Is it as good as Pink Moon and Five Leaves Left?
Yeah, yeah it is. I think I like it more than Five Leaves, in fact.
Most definitely more upbeat than both of those albums, it's refreshing and different and only makes me love this man more. He was definitely taken from us too soon.

Edit: 93 --> 99:
What was I even thinking giving this a 93? Maybe it was simply because I hadn't listened to any non-english music up to that point, but what I'm saying is that this is absolutely incredible.
Edit: 99 --> 100:
This is one of the most baffling albums I've ever heard. It somehow manages to do things with the way that it sounds that I never even could have imagined music could sound like. ... read more
Nobody Else is like a Radiohead song basically, it's very Kid A, the instrument they used on it sounds a lot like Idioteque; the vocals sound a lot like Thom Yorke too
It's funny how half of this album is purely indie folk and the other half has these silly electronic elements
I kinda like that
the Radiohead influence is back in Puzzle as well
So overall I liked the beginning of this a lot but it did grow somewhat repetitive by the end

I made this account around six months ago, just to review a couple albums I had already liked because I was bored. I let it sit for a while then decided to come back and listen to some new things to review.
Months later, I've listened to a shocking amount of new music as a result of this website. My general playlist of everything I like is fast approaching one thousand songs, my music palette is miles wider than it was when I started doing this, and I have been exposed to a ... read more
