Yeah, unfortunately didn't click with me. I mianly had a problem with his vocals, which I found got annoying quick.
"Somebody'll steal daddy's Rollie, call it the neighborhood watch" is an absolute bar tho.
Wow, I can't believe that I didn't like this, considering my love for Injury Reserve's other projects.
The lo-fi style of the beats clash with the very low-key vocal delivery, leading to a very sluggish listening experience imo. Everything just feels undercooked and low energy; I get the vibe it's going for, but nothing jumped out as particularly special. How can you make a 23 minute EP feel long?
I guess the best track was "See You Sweat", it at least has some personality but it ... read more

OH MY GOD THE COLD BLOODED SOUL VERSIONS OF THESE SONGS ARE AMAZING
Seriously, it's hilarious how wonderful the second disc is: it's so good, that it kinda overshadows the original "Melt My Eyez" in every way. Live instrumentation just brings these songs to LIFE. Maybe an argument could be made that the original "Walkin" sounds a bit better, but that's one out of the eight songs with a soul counterpart, and the rest are superior WITHOUT A DOUBT.
And then we got the new ... read more
I'm not as crazy about this album as others are, but I definitely had my fun with it. Unfortunately, many of the songs shrunk on me on my most recent listen, but I still wouldn't say the album's bad. It has "Walkin", so nothing under a 50 for sure. It's just that many of the songs aren't as heavy hitting as I remember. I'll always swear by the opinion that "TA1300" is Denzel's best project, but I can definitely see why you would pick "Melt My Eyez" over it.

This is honestly better than some of Death Grips' albums, like is it wrong that I would rather listen to this than NLDW? It's half the length but GODDAMN this shit is air tight. "Rights Of Passage (Steroids C)" is the best thing ever composed by man.
Every time I come back to this album, it seems like I enjoy a song that I didn't previously mesh with. For instance, I'm probably on my 8th full listen at this point, and I only started liking "Rock N Roll is Dead" on my 6th listen or so. It's now one of my favorites on the album.
This album grew on me heavily; sure, it has some in-your-face infectious qualities that you'll find enjoyment in pretty quickly ("Baby I'm Bleeding" and "1539 N. Calvert", to name a ... read more
