Just fucking incredible. Amazing production, extremely complex wordplay, and great storytelling. My favorite tracks were probably Tearz, Clan in da Front, and obviously C.R.E.A.M. One thing I really like about Wu-Tang, though, is that they're just confident in everything they do. There's so much reference to pop culture, martial arts, and more all throughout, and it just adds to the album, because it really feels like a group of geeks channeling all that knowledge into their writing. ... read more
Pretty neat hardstyle! I haven't checked this kind of music out too much, but I had a good time. It's a good album with some neat production, especially the synths on some of these songs. A few songs didn't hit it too strong for me, and a couple others felt like they ran on a bit too much, but besides that, this was a neat time!
This is a pretty good indie album, but I unfortunately don't think I liked it as much as others do. It's fun, it's pretty upbeat, and the instrumentals and writing are all pretty neat, but the garage rock sound kind of weakens the album a bit in my opinion. I know it was probably intentional, but it just makes the album sound a bit muffled, and really makes some great parts of songs buried in the mix, like the drums in Take It or Leave it. Still, that's just a minor issue at ... read more
What a fucking INCREDIBLE album, man. I was actually so shocked at how beautiful this album turned out to be. For almost a year, I had fallen in love with 5&1/2 Minute Hallway, but I just now got around to the full album. What I found here was a hauntingly (no really) beautiful love letter to a recently deceased loved one. Every inch of this record is dripping with so much artistic meaning and power that it's shocking. There's a really strong concept about Poe speaking to her ... read more
Some good-ass R&B, and an album that's just hard to knock. Mary J. Blige has a great voice, and the tracks really blend well with her singing. The songs are just great, and put you in a good mood. Not every song hit super well for me, but this is still a solid damn album, and dare I say even underrated. One thing I will say, though, this album might have one of the most poorly-aged openings of all time. I PROMISE, THOUGH, the voicemail from Puff is the worst part of the album.
Yeah, okay. Little Simz is quickly rising to be one of my favorite artists. I've previously listened to Lotus during my abandoned 2025 completion project, and it was one of the few albums that really stuck with me. It was just really catchy, and I specifically found her flow gripping. Coming into Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, I didn't really know what to expect, but my expectations were shot out of the water. This is an album that just screams confidence in an artistic sense. Little ... read more
This album could've worked, but I just feel like it was a bit poorly executed. It's expected that the voice actor for a show, and someone who's been working in theater for years, would make an album like this, but it feels like too much of a concept to take on for a debut. In just 27 minutes across 9 songs, Zach Callison delivers 5 songs and 4 interludes, making it feel more like a play than an album. This is cool, but it does just end up feeling kind of sloppy and overdramatic ... read more
This EP felt a bit less cohesive than the first one, but it was still pretty cool! There was some new things they tried on a couple tracks, like Baroque, that actually worked out quite well. The guitars and drums really were a nice touch. But then, a couple tracs felt kind of... extraneous? Not bad, but in such a short EP, I'd prefer for the tracks to kind of each stand out to me. Still, After is overall a pretty solid pop duo that I hope gets more attention later down the line. For the ... read more
This is an overall pretty solid pop EP! There's some pretty cool stuff on here, and there's some great moments in production. It's got a strong opener, with the 300 Dreams somehow feeling like it incorporates Y2k-ish aesthetics with Lilith Fair-esque artists of that time. The closer, Nothingmore is also pretty impressive, combining acoustics and synths for a fun time. It's not perfect, and I guess it's a bit rough around the edges, but it's still a fun time with ... read more
It's true: half of this album is really great stuff, and the rest is just alright. This album begins with a bunch of upbeat and fun tracks, from Out of the Blue being a fun pop/alt-rock song, and 11th Dimension being unreasonably bouncy and fun. But then, you reach a 3-song sequence that's just kind of a drag. Ludlow St. almost works, but it feels ever so slightly off sync, mainly the percussion, which just kinda hurts the song overall. Then, I don't know why, but River of ... read more
This is a really interesting album, because normally, I wouldn't be excited for a 31 song album that's 43 minutes long. But... this is a really fun time! This album hits you with a bunch of short concepts, beats, and productions, and there's lots of variety. Good samples, nice types of sounds, and overall just pretty fun. Plus, you have to give respects to J Dilla for this being his Swan Song. Short, sweet, yet packed with details.
An overall very solid 90s rap album! This is one of the few albums that I think the interludes actually add to the experience. It really makes things feel seamless, like one flow of raps, instead of several unconnected songs. Snoop Dogg is great on here, and him being on like half of the songs makes it even better. It's just a good album in general with some great rhymes and flow, and I can definitely feel its impact, even if I didn't think it was perfect. I just wish there was a ... read more
This album was surprisingly good! I wasn't sure how to initially feel, since the start kind of felt derivative, but as it went on, those worries just kind of melted away. This band kind of goes in the same vein as Shannon & The Clams and Jalen Ngonda, as artists who may capture an older sound, but more of that older sound is never a bad thing. It's creative, and a pretty accurate recreation as well. Best songs were definitely Any Time Of Day, What Happens To A Heart, and Ghost Run ... read more
Actually, funny story. Goodbye to a World was one of the first "real" songs I actually liked because of a really good Undertale AMV with the song. Anyways, I really wish I had listened to this album earlier, because I bet I probably would have had a much more strong reaction to it when I was younger. Now, though, this is pretty solid EDM, but it does feel very 2015, in a way. Like, there's some really good production here, especially here in songs like Sea of Voices, Divinity, ... read more
This is an album I think I wanted to like a lot more than I actually did. I know it's funny to call PinkPantheress songs short, but it does really show here. Songs can have great ideas, but they just end too fast and I just feel like I want more, because at the end of the day, this is really solid. Her voice is really nice, and just pleasing to listen to. The production is a bit too muddy for me at times, especially on songs like Just for me and Pain, but this is still a good enough time; ... read more
If there was a list of albums that I think almost nobody disliked, I think this would be one of the few albums on the list. This album is just pleasant in almost every way. Even for a 60s album, it holds up pretty well with some surprisingly layered vocals, done so well that sometimes it doesn't register for you that vocals are even at play. It just flows well, even the instrumental songs. The writing is also surprisingly effective. You wouldn't expect it to be, but its simplicity as ... read more
This was surprisingly really fucking good hello??? I had heard of this band before and mainly just put it on my interest list because "haha funny name" but no this is actually really cool indie/power pop! I've always really enjoyed this kind of music, amd while not every track clicked with me on first listen, there were still lots of gems throughout. The lead vocalist has such a pretty voice, and it really shines on songs such as Nothing Like and Split Me Open. The production is ... read more
This usually isn't my kinda thing, but this album is pretty well produced, and full of energy and emotion. It makes sense why Pinkshift chose them as an opener; this album is overstimulating in a good way.
This EP has no shame and it's kind of cool. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I think my favorite part was BOY DESTROYER. the (ReadySetGO!) adlib was great. A step up from Cosmic Brownie.
Pretty solid Industrial Hip Hop. It's full of some neat moments, and Goatmeal is pretty solid. Not entirely my thing, but still pretty cool.
