while not as spectacular or compelling as their prior albums, Grandaddy cannot produce a bad album.

this album is a huge mixed bag for me. I really do enjoy the songs with real energy: (No One's Easy to Love, Comeback Kid, Seventeen, Malibu, and You Shadow) but find myself skipping others that seem to drag on past their welcome: (I Told You Everything, Memorial Day, Jupiter 4). all in all, it was quite enjoyable to discover Sharon Van Etten's music, despite not being totally enthralled with it.

exploring Grandaddy's discography has been a truly immersive if not melancholy experience. Jason Lytle's ability to craft a unique heart-wrenching story about suicidal robots, drunk men in empty lots, or the summertime spent in the boondocks is something to behold. Grandaddy also puts out some incredible music, experimenting with synthesizers and electronic music and integrating those sounds with traditional indie-rock. Sumday is another step in Grandaddy's exceptional production of music.

without innovation, Toro's sound is growing stale. So many of these songs are downright boring. that being said, ordinary pleasure and freelance are bangers.

compared to halycon or microcastle, this album falls short. Im not sure if it is on the conceptual front or lyrical front, but there was something that felt lacking from this project compared to those two albums. However, average Deerhunter is still quite a bit more unique and interesting than many of their contemporaries.
