This is the worst album I have ever heard in my life. Bisket, formerly known as RiskR, is an actual artist turned corporate shell of her former self. Straying away from the ambient and drum and bass stylings that actually made her music good and listenable, she's now desperately trying to make a name for herself in the niche music fad known as dariacore, and what a pathetic attempt it is. Ripping off other people's great work and mashing it up into this ugly cacophony? Anyone could do that. ... read more
This is really good! The BC,NR influence here is obvious, but it doesn't feel like this group is trying to ripoff their sound or anything like that, and hearing a more refined version of "Frying Pan" past the version presented in the live recording was also nice to hear. Excited to hear what these guys do next, lots of potential here.
I went out record shopping with a friend today. It was a pretty fun experience and it was nice being able to flip through some classics and see which ones I'd be most curious to take home with me. Among the sea of vinyl, one of the first things to catch my eye was the Aretha Franklin section, and I started looking through the albums that were for sale, the one which caught my eye the most being "The Gospel Soul of Aretha Franklin". This record caught my eye for a couple of reasons, ... read more
I don't know, maybe the novelty of this production style just wore off for me, or maybe this project is honestly just lacking in an area where the first Dariacore project didn't, either way I don't like this one nearly as much. Something about the choppiness of many tracks here personally just bothers me, even if it was an intentional artistic choice, and the mashups here feel a lot more random and scattershot, losing much of the humor and charm that made the initial Dariacore record so ... read more
I suppose if I cared more about the artistic integrity of this band I would rate this lower... oh well
These track ratings just prove that AOTY is biased towards artists that they already know they like
the charli xcx and pinkpantheress tracks are among the worst here LMAO
"Rodeo" is a bit more interesting on paper than it is in execution. This is commonly named as being one of the best trap albums of its decade, which is something I only slightly agree with. There are many things to like about this project, not only is the production pretty great, but the songs are generally pretty consistent and the instrumentals are pretty creative and fun. However, by that same notion, there's also a lot to dislike about "Rodeo", with there being some ... read more
edit: This is like walking into a progressive modern art museum and looking at all the million dollar paintings that are literally one color shade
this is so fucking true
Just watched this movie for the first time earlier today and I gotta say this score was one of the strongest aspects of an already amazing film. we out here playing the drums fr π₯π₯
I highly doubt I even need to preface this at all. I struggle to name a single artist whose music I've fallen more in love with with time, or whose art I'm as completely obsessed with, as Ichiko Aoba's. However, as the initial infatuation period passed over and I moved onto other artists, Aoba-san's music kind of fell to the wayside for a bit for me, and it was only with this newest release, "Sketch", that I would once again find myself listening to a new project of hers, and god if ... read more
This album is fucking fantastic. The production is raw and heavy, giving the album this amazing sound that fits the lyrical themes and instrumentation incredibly well. The bass is deep and heavy, I love the way it was mixed on this project and how it rarely ever feels drowned out even during the record's loudest moments. On top of this, Led Zeppelin's incorporation of blues rock on tracks like "Black Mountain Side" and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" as well as the psych rock ... read more
American Football embark into new territory on their third, most adventurous record to date. Embracing the sounds of dream pop, while still keeping true to their midwest emo roots, American Football have reinvented themselves and turned over a new leaf in a really beautiful sort of way. I was hesitant going into this, especially after LP2, worrying that their sound would only go to further diminish in quality and only show signs of them aging as a band even more, similar to what happened on ... read more
This hurts to write. Truth is, I love MCR, they mean a lot to me. Even if they only technically ever put out like one actually great album, their music will always hold a special place in my heart due to my incredibly fond memories of listening to it back when I was first getting into music. However, I think it's pretty fair to say that, for me anyway, "Danger Days" is MCR's worst record. Listen, don't get me wrong, I like the concept. The whole comic book thing is interesting and ... read more
Although there are good riffs to be found here occasionally, the majority of "Undisputed Attitude" is characterized by obnoxious, painfully on the nose lyricism, ugly vocal performances, terrible production and mixing and a dated, stale hardcore punk sound that makes Slayer feel decrepit and long past their heyday. Unless you're a hardcore Slayer fan, I'd say skip this one.
My Chemical Romance's debut is a rough yet promising first record that showcases some of the talents the group would later go on to refine. Arguably the biggest example of this is in Gerard Way's vocal performances, which remain as passionate and personality filled as the rest of MCR's material. Outside of this, the instrumentals are pretty decent and enjoyable, in spite of their raw presentation, which depending on the song really works or it really doesn't. The songwriting didn't really work ... read more
my bloody valentine have lost their edge. They're a band that started out with ambitious and exciting approaches to shoegaze and dream pop, but if 20 years have proven anything, it's that they've lost almost all the defining characteristics of what made them so beloved in the first place. There's no excitement, there's no interesting production choices, there's no soul to this music, and, in spite of what the cover may lead you to believe, there's no color to any of this. This feels washed out ... read more
