Some kind of silly bars, and the sound is obviously extremely simplistic, but overall a pretty fun and charming early hip hop LP.
just got back from the eras tour movie and it was amazing but im very upset that she did not play this song SO
Flat production, bad mixing, zero personality. This feels like a ripoff of "iridescence" in places but not even having half the energy, color, talent, or actual bars that made that project what it was. It's boring, it's hollow, and it's uninspired. I'm glad that people seem to be enjoying this one, but to me, it's unbelievably mediocre.
Kristin Hayter might just be one of the most fascinating artists of my generation. Her music, while understandably difficult to get into, is really quite amazing in my eyes, and her output has been among the most unique of any artist working today, and "SAVED!" is no exception. While Hayter has tackled themes of Christianity and religion in past works, namely on records like "SINNER GET READY", I think her message gets across in an even more impactful and candid way here. ... read more
How has this managed to fly under the radar for so long? This is excellent.
Everything about this feels exciting and fresh, the production is so clean and polished while also having some amazing sound design that fits in with the space theme so, so well. I'm also just wildly impressed with the genre fusions on this record. Not only do they feel pretty seamless and fit the tone and concept extremely well, but this is also an album that fuses together three genres that I've been historically ... read more
Very good from an instrumental and production standpoint, but it feels far too derivative of other artists and bands who have done these same sounds and styles and way more interesting ways. I'm glad that people seem to love this, I just didn't find it to be all that unique.
Oneohtrix Point Never has always struck me as an artist with a never ending desire to experiment and push the boundaries, never tending to explore the same idea twice. "Again" is beautiful, it's the sound of an already established and successful musician completely shedding the layers of commercial, mainstream appeal in the hopes of creating something new and boundary pushing and, miraculously, he did it. I don't know if electronic music has ever sounded like this before, it sounds so ... read more
Olivia Rodrigo has really come into her own as a songwriter and an artist, providing in a record that feels like the full realization of the promising blueprint that "SOUR" presented. While "GUTS" undeniably delivers in the same youthful angst that was present throughout the majority of "SOUR", while also including some more vulnerable and intimate tracks throughout, this simply feels like a much more mature and refined record from Rodrigo. She's also easily one of ... read more
"this amazing is lyrics cause the album" music should be allowed to people listen
Talking Heads' debut, while undeniably pretty fun and danceable, also carries a certain simple nature and relative inexperience that holds it back from being a truly great body of work in my eyes. The band definitely showcases their potential that they would obviously seize later down the line, but I just can't say that this holds up to the standards of some later releases of theirs. Nonetheless, some really good tracks on here!
I'm honestly pretty surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reception this album has received. Yes, it's well composed and the music itself is... fine, but to me this album just encapsulates so many of the aggravating tropes that cause me to actively avoid or otherwise roll my eyes whenever I see an album tagged as progressive rock on this site.
Just a beautiful, incredibly underrated album in my eyes. The sound itself is eclectic, managing to channel so many different genres and styles into this one jazz recording, while still managing to remain entirely unique and consistent. Whether you're already a fan of jazz or are just getting into the genre for the first time, I would recommend this to everybody, it's truly wonderful.
Just very boring, surface level doom metal. Very in one ear and out the other, and there's no real defining qualities that this album has that I can't find literally anywhere else.
So... this record is kind of a big deal for me. yeule has been on my radar ever since the release of last year's "Glitch Princess", an emotionally resonant, raw album that managed to keep an emotional core and relatability to its topics of gender identity, self-hatred, and depression, even in spite of its very electronic, "online" sound which, if executed poorly, could have simply led to the album itself lacking a personal connection or something to latch onto. Luckily that ... read more
