There was a vocal sample towards the end that reminded me of i killed satan in the gulag
For a debut album this thing is very impressive and surprisingly stylistically distinct for the most part. The sound of this record is pretty standard indie rock for the most part, but combined with some surprisingly great vocal performances and an infectious pop appeal, it makes for a record that is personally irresistible and almost impossible for me not to enjoy to some degree. The lyrics don't really stand out to me especially, but they're well written and it's really less a fault of the ... read more
An impressively performed, incredibly promising little record. Sitting at just under 20 minutes in length and at only 6 songs this is really more of an EP than it is a full length, but it's an interesting EP at that! Crochet show a lot of promise on this project, constructing these very manic, quickly performed, but ultimately extremely satisfying mathcore/emo songs. For as much as I enjoyed this I am able to accept that it has some pretty noticeable production issues at points, but as a whole, ... read more

lmaooo nvm i get it. one of the best albums ever made easily, deserving of all the hype and so much more if we're being honest
Starts out strong with nice, mellow production and passable vocal performances (for the most part), but loses steam surprisingly quickly, leading to a second half that feels lazy, uninspired and boring.
Short and sweet. There's some filler, but at the end of the day, emo is such a nostalgic genre for me that anything that manages to evoke the pure fun of the genre is almost guaranteed to win me over no matter what, and this album is exactly that.
Slowdive's most recent return to music is a pleasant, albeit slightly underwhelming return for the group. The band's self titled release following an over 20 year long hiatus in 2017 left me very excited to see where the band would go next with a potential new album, but I'm honestly a bit sad to say that what we got didn't really feel like anything new or exciting, with the project itself feeling a bit lacking in terms of substance or something memorable to latch onto. That's not to say that ... read more
you guys just dont get it!!!!!!!!!
The Alchemist is one of the most overrated producers working today and this album is just a further example of why. His discography is something of a musical output comparable to McDonald's, or any other big fast food chain you can think of. He just releases short, often times low effort projects year by year, and capitalizes on the fact that no matter what, his diehard fans are gonna sit through it, so fuck it, I'll make 4 actual songs and then force the audience to listen to the same 4 songs ... read more
Summery and bright J-Rock. It's nothing revolutionary, and it's nothing you haven't heard before, but it's nice for what it is. Definitely wouldn't make this your follow up to "World Is Yours", though.
A wondrously composed and performed piece, "Music for 18 Musicians" is one of the most impressive, engaging and highly influential minimalist classical recordings of all time. For however intimidating the track lengths are and however misleading the relatively plain cover is, I can guarantee you that the contents of 18 Musicians are amongst the most colorful and joyous classical music I've ever heard. It's a piece that rewards the patient listeners that are willing to see it through ... read more
imagine if someone sneezed like halfway through this and they had to start over
This has a 78 user score but "Takk..." has an 85? I will never understand you people.
Anyways, "Valtari" is beautiful. Every track plays out in this vivid display of color and memory, and the whole record feels inexplicably nostalgic, like it conjures up memories from within me that I didn't even realize I still had and that have been buried deep in my subconscious.
Noname has served up more of the same with her first album in 5 years, "Sundial". I've never entirely understood the hype behind Noname's music, with her style feeling incredibly repetitive and her vocal delivery always remaining relatively the same across her projects, and "Sundial" has done next to nothing to sell me on her as an artist. I mean really, this is Beach Bunny levels of formulaic. The production here is nothing adventurous or new, the lyrical themes feel stale ... read more
