If the sound was just a little more present I would've loved this sooo much more... but as it stands it's still very enjoyable! I swear Ichiko's not even a human being at this point, she literally seems incapable of doing wrong. Also I got to hear her speaking voice for the first time, that's pretty neat!
Sloppy production and mixing is the only thing holding me back from enjoying this a lot more, because for the most part I think the ideas presented are very good! Just listening to the unfinished leaks though, I just wish I was listening to the finished product, not something resembling it.
oh my gosh!! I can't believe I didn't absolutely love this album from my favorite artist of all time Jane Remover, whos music I've had nothing but good things to say about in the past! Yeah, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. I hate Jane's music. You all probably know that I hate Jane's music. With that being said, given the tiny snippet I'd heard of the song homeswitcher, I did expect this to be better than frailty, and I mean... it is.... kinda. I still think the mixing here is hideous, I think the ... read more
Not rating this one, but I do still want to talk about it because... I'm gonna be honest with y'all, I'm not really feeling it. That's not to say that it's bad, in fact, I like it. If I was rating it, I'd probably give it like a 7/10 off my first few listens. With that being said though, this just didn't do as much for me as I'd hoped. I can see it growing on me for sure, but currently I just feel like the track doesn't really go anywhere or lead towards anything. It's got some Medulla in ... read more
this doesn't really count towards anything i've been doing, i just think it's pretty :)
Radiohead's masterpiece Kid A is a work that manages to find beauty and life in the artificial and cold. Starting at the turn of a new millennium, Radiohead delivered their most despondent work to date, their most alien and dark album to date, but also the one that I find myself hypnotized by the most. Take the opener, for example: the album starts off with a cold, icy set of synthesizers, immediately making the listener feel surrounded by the jagged mountains on the album cover, voices ... read more

So, to put it in the simplest terms possible, Radio was... different from what I was expecting. This record was basically a live performance for, you guessed it, a radio station. However, there are other musicians here too, playing various different instruments. While I don't mind the idea of Ichiko working with other artists and adding in extra layers of instrumentation, the other people here just kind of make the whole thing feel a bit more cluttered and confused in comparison to her ... read more
Cosmogramma is a very interesting and textured album with stellar production and good features. With that being said, is this something I see myself returning to often? Not necessarily, although I can see this being a record with a lot of replay value for others, it just doesn't really come to mind in terms of my sound and the stuff that I find myself listening to in regular rotation. With that being said, do not write off or discount Cosmogramma, it's an awesome album with production that, ... read more
lol rip bozo (i’m honestly really sad i just have shit coping mechanisms)
This music and this film make me feel seen in a way so few things ever have, I really don’t know how to describe it. Maybe it comes as the result of a lot of personal stress and discomfort in my own life, but listening through this in class I was fighting back tears while listening, and it’s not even particularly trying to make you feel something like that a lot of the time.
Unfortunately, while I did enjoy this project, I just felt slightly underwhelmed by it in areas and felt like I've heard better. While there's a lot to enjoy here for sure, with jazz being such a dying scene nowadays, it's up to the last few remaining bands out there to push the genre forward into new and interesting places. Take for example Your Queen is a Reptile, that's a record that I think very successfully managed to push the jazz genre to somewhere new, exciting, and pretty weird. This, ... read more

Powerful, reflective, and unflinchingly honest, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is an important release in the discography of one of the greatest and most influential rappers of this or any generation.
Why did I wait so long to hear this? Like, seriously?
Featuring incredible instrumentation, pristine, spotless production, and 13 of Daft Punk's very best songs, and yes, I really do mean that, Random Access Memories is simply an experience unlike no other. Everything about this is just so expertly done. I think some of the vocal performances on tracks like Instant Crush can be a little shaky, and Pharrell Williams is just consistently kind of below average throughout this whole thing, but ... read more
