Wow. This album grew on me so much, it's insane. After what felt like hundreds of listens, Born Under Punches finally clicked with me earlier today. Everything about the incredible, thick grooves, the shouty, distressed vocals, and especially that electronic breakdown in the second half is just so insanely enjoyable to me and it immediately caught my attention this time around. While I think that that song has the best vocal performance of the album, and the rest of the record is a ... read more
still listening to the extra stuff not sure if i'll count it as a part of the discography thing im doing keep scrolling
anyways if this had more actual songs on it my rating would be a lot higher
This might just be one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Really nice :)
I feel like Spongebob squarepants would play this at a house party or something
Revisiting Ichiko Aoba's Discography: Part 5
I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I know this record shouldn't teeeechnically count since I'm "revisiting" these albums, but y'know what I wanna hear the live stuff and the EPs and so on and so forth and this is a pretty great excuse to get to do all that so just shhh, ok? Anyways, this is one of the best live albums I've heard I think. Everything about this is impressive, from the amazing sound of the recordings to the songs being played to the ... read more
Revisiting Ichiko Aoba's Discography: Part Four (70->87)
This woman is just incapable of putting out anything that's not amazing, huh? Yeah, so 0 was by far the Ichiko record that I was the most excited to revisit and, as expected, it clicked. This record is easily her most ambitious with the exception of one much later on, using a lot of field recordings as well as some double layered vocals and what sounds like a live recording of one of her songs making this her "experimental ... read more
Certainly one of Miles' funkiest and most experimental outings, but also one of his least focused and conceptually loose records to date.
Revisiting Ichiko Aoba's Discography: Part Three!!! (93->96)
Yeah, I don't really have much to say about this one, this has always been top tier Ichiko in my eyes but this second listen only solidified how much it means to me. I feel like everyone just has those pieces of art, whether they be movies, shows, albums, games, or whatever, that hold a special and important place in their heart, and Utabiko is one of those things for me. I'm very curious to see if she'll be able to keep this ... read more
Revisiting Ichiko Aoba's Discography: Part Two!! (86->92)
So... I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before, but I really like Ichiko Aoba's music! Shocker, I know. Seriously though, only two albums in and this is already proving to be one of my most enjoyable and exciting discography dives in quite some time, maybe ever! Anyways let's talk about Origami so I can move on to one of my personal favorites from her. So, I'm not sure why, but I wasn't super impressed with Origami at first? I ... read more
Carole King's beautiful voice matched with the relatively light and upbeat instrumentals and incredible songwriting of this album make Tapestry not only an album that I love, but one that I consider to be absolutely essential listening. I'm so happy that I have this record in my life, it just makes me so happy! :)
As everyone else has already said, this album is a blast. These songs are super fun and suuuper short, songs are in and out so fast it'll make your head spin, and while for the most part I don't mind this, it does lead to some songs feeling slightly underdeveloped which is a major issue I have with shorter songs in general. With that being said, the vocals also took a bit of getting used to for me, but I adjusted and had a great time from there, highly recommend.

There's a clear, vivid beauty to Laughing Stock that I just can't shake. What on first listen struck me as a particularly happy and heavenly release began to show some darker undertones on a second listen, but overall I gotta say I'm incredibly impressed with this one. Musically and conceptually this thing is amazing, and I find it so interesting how the last record this band ever recorded was one with this much of an emphasis and focus on religion, death, and life.

What will immediately stick out about Selected Ambient Works is its atmosphere. Everything about the airy production, the synth work that has aged shockingly well, and the incredible sound palette of this record all come together in the best ways, and what results is a body of work that can be listened to and appreciated on many different levels. No matter what way you look at it, though, the album's just damn good.

No album makes me feel more depressed, happy, completely lost and entirely at peace as Blonde. There are few albums that I can say genuinely hold a special place in my heart, but I can say without a doubt that Blonde is one of those few.
How far is a lightyear?
I feel like there's definitely a great album in here, but so much of it is clouded by the technical limitations of this project. Let's get the obvious out of the way: the production here isn't the best. It's not bad, but it will become very evident to any fans of JPEGMAFIA's music that his production improved much more on later projects. Plus in general the whole very atmospheric and kind of cold atmosphere is one that doesn't particularly do much for me. I think in general the backstory is ... read more
im sorry
also the fact that they brought out a whole orchestra for may the best pet win???? goddamn they did not need to go that far above and beyond but ok
I feel like I would've really loved this thing had the whole record been the sine waves mixed with Sakamoto's piano playing, as I think it creates an interesting and rather beautiful contrast between the lifeless and almost artificial sine waves, and the beautiful and organic piano, but even still the time we do get where those two are on display is a blessing. Also, this might be a bit of an odd thing to compliment but what a lovely album title!
