I don’t think there are bad mountain goats albums, but there are certainly many that don’t stand out. This is one of those, with the exception of the first and last song

I totally see the appeal here and think this is super well produced. But ultimately I don’t think it’s remarkably memorable. Not quite to the level of recent anti-dog albums like “no dogs allowed” or “beware of the dogs”
The pieces are all there, but it’s still a little underwhelming
The ballads don’t add much but the bops are fucking bops
I’ll admit to not having heard anything by her other than that one song, so I am shocked by what this album is compared to my expectations. So well produced
