Side B feels like a transition between Kiss and Emotion. The songs have some of that polished vibe that made Emotion so amazing, but still feels a little sugary like Kiss was. Nonetheless, pretty good for a bside album. Store is a jam
On her third album, Lisa leaves the acoustic guitar and other string instruments for a piano and electric guitar. The sound comes across as overproduced and a little bland, even as Lisa's voice shines
There will be a time, and it probably won't happen for at least a few months or years, where we look back and wonder why we were so in love with this album when it came out.
EDIT 11/2019: So it seems society determined that I was wrong on this one. And while this record has grown on me, I really think it goes downhill on the second half.
A little disappointing when compared to his last couple albums. His guitar virtuosity is a little muted by overproduction and too much electric guitar. Some strong moments here though, including the halfwit in me and the roundabout.
Time for me to stop being embarrassed about how good I think this album is. It's the pop album of the decade. By far
a beautiful charming album from an artist whose voice feels both unique and very familiar
ugh was really excited for this one but found it bland and unimaginative
This album is too long for me. I think it's got a lot of good moments (Augustine and EVP are my favorites) but it really drags on and is a bit inconsistent. Kind of reminds me of if Michael Jackson met Ellliott Smith. Just doesn't quite work for me
Been coming back to this album a little more lately. The first half is incredible, full of catchy hooks and creative riffs. Then about halfway it just dies down a bit
cool and creative songs here but a little inconsistent and ultimately falls short for me. A lot of potential here though
Edit: This albums is growing on me. Xenia's voice and quirky tendencies make this a creative and exciting listen. Right? is among my favorites of the year
Mitski offers one of the most honest, introspective albums of the decade so far. Musically the twists and turns of this album are exciting: the percussion and horns on "Happy", the electric guitars on "Your Best American Girl." Reminiscent of some of the best artists of previous years, namely St. Vincent and Angel Olsen. Although the ending may be a little subdued, this album is nearly perfect. Best record for 20-somethings since Modern Vampires of the City. Can't wait to go ... read more
Wow shocked by how much I liked this one. Catchy, consistent, and Grande's voice shines. Pop album of the year
An excellent demonstration of how to make a bland, boring, generic rock record
For me this album falls a bit short of WU LYF's album from a few years ago, but there are definietly some good moments on this album. The backing instrumentation isn't nearly as interesting as WU LYF in my opinion, but LUH creates an exciting, unique album
