Marissa Nadler - Strangers
66

Remarkably generic

Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle
84

This album continues to go on me. Baker finds beauty in her simplicity. Her powerful voice shines on this album

Mutual Benefit - Skip a Sinking Stone
82

This album is not quite as sparse as their debut, but that doesn't take away from its enchanting, beautiful sound

Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book
69

A fun but ultimately messy album. Almost too many guests on the album, kinda takes away from Chance's unique voice. When it's just him, I think Chance is at his best, like in Blessings. That said, chance still has the song of the year with Ultralight Beam

Julia Holter - Have You in My Wilderness
90

With time this album has grown on me more and more. An enchanting and mesmerizing piece of music.

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
83

I think this one will ultimately be a grower on me. There are a few songs in here that I find truly captivating (The Numbers, Present Tense, BTW, and Daydreaming in particular) but a lot of the middle of the album just doesn't seem to grab me quite as much. In what is probably radiohead's most mellow album, there is a lot that is beautiful, but a lot that leaves me wanting more....

All of that said, I'm holding Radiohead to a higher standard. The album is still great. One of my tops of the ... read more

ANOHNI - Hopelessness
80

The vocals sound like Wild Beasts, but the music is much better than Wild Beasts! I like this album a lot, and I'm excited to delve more into the lyrics

Kyle Craft - Dolls of Highland
85

This will probably go by as one of the most underappreciated albums of the year. The jangly keyboard and catchy guitar hooks match his unique voice very well. Loving this record

dvsn - Sept. 5th
69

Kinda reminiscent of the weeknd's early work, but a little more boring. Certainly are some high points on this album, however

Sturgill Simpson - A Sailor's Guide to Earth
76

An exciting and creative effort from a country artist who doesn't get wrapped up in all the crap that makes most modern country music so crappy.

Kevin Morby - Singing Saw
81

Reminds me of tobias jesso jr meets monsters of folk. I like it

Anna Meredith - Varmints
77

A captivating and exciting listen

PJ Harvey - The Hope Six Demolition Project
66

just musically, she's never quite done it for me

M83 - Junk
65

I didn't hate this album like it appears others did. It's fine. Doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but it's not a terrible listen

Parquet Courts - Human Performance
65

Disappointingly bland after the punchy, exciting sunbathing animal

Frankie Cosmos - Next Thing
63

This album was like 30 minutes and still felt too long. Kind of boring in my opinion

The Drones - Feelin Kinda Free
74

One of the most creative, menacing, and fun albums I've listened to in quite some time

Emmy the Great - Second Love
73

This album is good. Especially the first half of it. A new direction for Emmy but she doesn't disappoint. Favorites are less than three and hyperlink

La Sera - Music for Listening to Music To
67

La sera continues her trend of decent, pleasant albums (other than the fantastic 'sees the light')
