Jens Lekman - Life Will See You Now
85

Tails off a bit at the end, but this is a pretty fun pop album

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
89

Somewhere along the way this became one of my favorite rap albums

Molly Burch - Please Be Mine
81

Another charming folk record early in 2017. Burch evokes Angel Olsen and that 50's sound and creates a beautiful debut

Sampha - Process
74

I think that the upbeat moments on this album are incredible. The first two songs got me so excited for the rest of it. But to be honest, I found a great deal of the second half of the album quite boring. Perhaps a little too inconsistent for me, but a very promising debut

Jesca Hoop - Memories Are Now
93

Was really excited to listen to this album given the early hype I was seeing it get. I think I like this album a lot, but I'm not fully sure yet. The songs are beautiful and interesting but it doesn't seem to be a cohesive album musically at all.

EDIT: Yeah I can't stop listening to this album. Falling in love with it

Elbow - Little Fictions
64

oh elbow what has happened to you

Wiley - Godfather
82

Bring the grime!

Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness
89

A stunningly beautiful folk album. Great improvement from her first record.

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 3
69

sad to say I'm a little disappointed in this one. Love the other two but this one seems to be a little less edgy to me, unfortunately.

Margo Price - Midwest Farmer's Daughter
76

a promising country debut

KAYTRANADA - 99.9%
80

wayyyy too long

edit, 2019: Came back around on this one. It good.

J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only
60

I was thinking that this album wasn't so bad and then the second half of it happened. I will never understand the J. Cole thing, but there are a few moments here that aren't bad

Beyoncé - Lemonade
87

Finally caved and listened... It's pretty good

Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker
75

Treaty one of the songs of the year in my opinion

Bon Iver - 22, A Million
70

I knew I wasn't gonna love this album like everyone else. Too much James Blake and new Kanye for me. The autotune is obnoxious, but other parts are beautiful. A decent album for me, but not anything more

Local Natives - Sunlit Youth
64

To me this sounds like what would've happened if foals tried to make a pop record. The melodies are uninteresting and generic, and the vocals don't add too much. While there are some high points (fountain of youth and coins, specifically) this album is a major disappointment from a band whose debut showed so much promise

Wilco - Schmilco
70

Pretty decent. Excited to see them go back to a folksy sound after I thought their last album was a disappointment

Angel Olsen - MY WOMAN
84

I mean, Angel Olsen's pretty good. She's become one of the leading voices in indie music today. Still prefer the first two albums which showcase her voice a bit more, but beautiful production and arrangements
