The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
91

If you have the courage and the patience to listen to 2 hours + straight of great music, then this is a must. This record is very long, but it does have highs throughout the entire 121 minutes. One of the best double album of all time.

Coldplay - Parachutes
89

I can't say that this is better than A Rush Of Blood To The Head, but it's definitely top 3 Coldplay albums, even probably top 2. Miss the early 2000's Coldplay, honestly...

Frank Ocean - nostalgia,ULTRA.
97

People just sleeping on this because it's not on streaming services, but it has some of Frank's best songs. It also features some of my favorite sample use of all time. This is a gem.

Kid Cudi - Entergalactic
74

I wasn't a huge fan of this on first listen, but I will say that coming back to it has made me appreciate it more and more. It's far from Cudi's best work, but it's not as mid as people make it sound like.

redveil - learn 2 swim
88

This has to be one of the most underrated projects in hip hop this year. It has some of the best jazz rap songs I've heard in a while, and that dude is only 18 years old. I'm really looking forward to hearing more music by redveil in the future.

The HU - Rumble of Thunder
68

I'm really happy that I discovered this band. This is so far from anything we hear here in America. That being said, I do feel like most of the album was sounding the same. I may need to give this album more time, because I do know that this style of music usually takes more time to appreciate. Might have to update this rating.

Demi Lovato - HOLY FVCK
73

It's better than most (if not all) of the recent wannabe punk rock/pop that I've heard (looking at you Colson..). And I'll add that this album isn't even actually wannabe rock, it really is rock for the most part. Demi surprised me with this one.

Jockstrap - I Love You Jennifer B
79

This was erhhh... something. It's definitely an interesting debut album for Jockstrap. It has its messy moments, but it's still somewhat cohesive.

Panic! at the Disco - Viva Las Vengeance
31

Before I say anything, I must say that apart from a song or two, I knew nothing of Panic! beforehand. So I don't know how bad Brendon fell off. Now that that's out of the way, this is terrible. Why does everything sound so... forced, I don't know how to explain. Maybe it's just his annoying voice, idk. Why does everything have to be so grand, so big. Keep it simple man, stop trying too hard, it makes it unlistenable.

77

I'm not usually a big fan of Reggaeton and latin music in general. That being said, I feel like Rosalia avoided some of the stereotypical characteristics that I dislike in latin music. I enjoyed it more than what I expected.

Alex G - God Save the Animals
78

It was my first gilmpse at Alex G's music and I gotta say that I've heard plenty of better indie albums this year. It's decent, but nothing to write home about.

Conan Gray - Superache
71

I wasn't a fan of his first album, and this isn't even as good as Kid Krow. And it's not even that bad, he's got an interesting voice and is able to put emotion into his songs, but it's too repetitive, too redundant.

Logic - Vinyl Days
79

I've had a few thoughts going through my mind while listening to this. Hasn't Logic retired? Why is this 30 tracks long? While it's not AOTY material for me, it's probably the most cohesive and enjoyable body of work Logic's released in the past few years.

The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention
85

It's not as good as a good old Radiohead album, but if that's what we can get from these guys nowadays, I'll gladly take it. The fact that they can release music this good and this original three decades into their career is amazing.

Am I the only one who sees Canada on this cover or am I going crazy?

Toro y Moi - MAHAL
80

Everything just kinda feels right, but nothing really amazes me. It's a good overall album that doesn't really have any high points throughout the 40 minutes.

Black Thought & Danger Mouse - Cheat Codes
90

I gotta admit: I didn't know either of these artist before listening. I guess that's one of the many reasons that this album pleased me as much as it did.

Rina Sawayama - Hold the Girl
82

It's definitely not as goos as SAWAYAMA, but there's some good tracks on here. What I love about her is her versatility, and it's still very much apart of this record.

Marcus Mumford - (self-titled)
68

I genuinly wanted to like this, but it's straight up dull. I was really hoping that the features could make this better, but even Clairo and Phoebe couldn't save this

Maggie Rogers - Surrender
76

Yeah I'm really not a big fan of Maggie Rogers music. It's very generic, bland pop rock music. It just feels like I listened to 45 minutes of not much.

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter
88

It's a long album, but I think it's worth it. The best tracks are in the second half of the album, imo. It wasn't as good as I thought on first listen, but it's still a very strong contender for AOTY.
