Focusing on creating tension and release within their compositions, they're still incorporating new designs, not merely repackaging the previous products.
When even the track titles are difficult and unclear it is evident that one is dealing with a band that demands dues are paid. If you choose to do so, the time and effort spent may well ultimately pay off.
To be honest, I found their last album to be a lot more thrilling, but what works for me might not work for you. If you're looking for something that quietly cuts its way through the digital jungle. Oversteps should be your destination.

Oversteps continues on the track of Quaristice in the sense that it offers an even more accessible sound that sacrifices some of the intricacy of the duo’s song crafting in return for some tasty melodies and atmospheric drones.

Didn’t love the first half, but the album really picks up in the second. Tracks like “Treale” and “d-sho qub” are highlights with glitchy sounds and ambient backgrounds. The best song is absolutely the closer “Yuop”, a beautiful, lush, ambient track with incredible bass as well. Definitely a worthwhile listen for any Autechre fan, or anyone who enjoys IDM/Ambient.
