It harnesses everything that's made his work since 2007's Ziltoid the Omniscient so spiritually and sonically rich. It's utterly remarkable.
DEVIN TOWNSEND has once again proved why he is one of the most multi-faceted musicians to ever grace the industry as he continues to reinvent himself whilst still managing to stay familiar and endearing.
If ears could chew, Lightwork would dribble down the sides of your head to the point of indecency. It sounds delicious.
Sonically immaculate, as is the Canadian’s way, Lightwork is a beautiful curveball.
With Lightwork the prolific Canadian polymath serves up yet another dose of intrinsically fascinating – and frequently challenging – progressive metal.
This is just a nice, chill record on the poppier side of Devin Townsend's discography. I didn't really care about it that much or noticed it at all when it came out, but for some reason, listening to it again for one of these randomly-picked reviews I do made me appreciate it a lot more!

…you know, for the first three or four listens this won me over - going back to the pop metal of Epicloud and Sky Blue with a breezier song focus, bringing his underrated knack for hooks with more visceral vocals and his characteristic sweeping soundscapes, with more folks in the studio creating a refocus on groove and slightly less overproduction.

This was great. Really uplifting and beautiful album. I do think the 2nd half was significantly better than the 1st though.
