I've never knowingly listened to anything that's part of the countrypolitan style. For some reason, the name just conjured up something bland in my mind, but then when I learned that it's a very mainstream-ified pop version of old school Nashville country, I don't think I could've been less excited to hear it lol. Patsy Cline walked so Jessie Murph could run. I need to listen more to classic country. But this is a great beginning for me. Her voice is confident, and The Jordanires do a good job of accompanying her. The arrangements are surprisingly dense, with strings and choir filling out the space. I can definitely hear Mitski taking inspiration from this on her more country inspired songs. In fact, I checked this album out because Mitski name-dropped Patry Cline in an interview.

In my personal opinion, her best album balancing her vocals and the more dowop sounds that were common at the time.
