This is what I consider to be Kevin's first, proper, fleshed out EP. Consisting of 6 tracks, but for some reason the track 'Wander' isn't added onto the AOTY track list, don't know why, but it is what it is.
Tame Impala's self-titled EP, and it honestly did not disappoint, I'm fairly surprised, this is Kevin's first ever proper music release and he's absolutely bossed it, what a great first impression. The tracks sound really raw, you can tell that ... read more
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, it's a Tame Impala rush!
Tame Impala's self-titled EP is actually pretty impressive for their first (or second) project. On this EP they go for a 60's psychedelic rock sound, very much reminiscent of the Beatles when they were transitioning into their psychedelic sound. On top of that Kevin's voice sounds a lot like John Lennon or somebody from the Beatles, once again enhancing that Beatles sound. Beatles comparisons aside, as its own project this was ... read more
I felt the urge to want to go back and re listen to all of tame impalas music and give my updated thoughts and also listen to the music I haven’t heard from them yet. I can see that this is a good starting point for game impala. I think the instrumentation is solid but the atmosphere is nowhere near as creative or well expanded as their future projects. I think this is a good starting point but nothing too memorable for me.

Super underrated, Half full glass of wine is an amazing song
I also noticed it was at 499 ratings so being number 500 is kinda cool
On Tame Impala's debut EP, you can see this Beatles-inspired band being... the Beatles. That's not as bad as it sounds, though. While the sound isn't as clean cut as their later works, they at least go for some intriguing, psychedelic 60's sounds here with Kevin Parker doing his best Lennon impression. Okay, yeah, I'm kinda making this EP sound worse than it actually is. But I do recommend you to check this out if you're on a Tame Impala deep dive.

This EP is definitely a lot better than Mr. Impala’s most recent album. I like the 60s vibe this record has, though I do think I can lean a bit to being derivative. Like the song “Half Full Glass Of Wine” sounds straight off of Cream’s “Disraeli Gears”.
Thank you @cwhit for the recommendation.
Pretty lame to admit but I once had a dream they covered the original version of "I Saw The Light" by Nazz (Todd Rundgren wrote it). It was a great cover and I wish it were real. Also once dreamed Rush covered "Burnin For You" by BOC and that was legendary also lol
Took me ages to get to listening to this for some reason, pretty good debut, half full glass of wine is fire, it definitely feels like a less polished version of innerspeaker but that’s okay, it’s still tame impala therefore it is fire
Tame impala deep dive:#2
Insane improvement over his first E.P.The vocals feel fleshed out,the production is magnificent, and it feels like he’s taking you into another world.Just a couple more
tweaks and he would find his signature sound
It's interesting to hear how much Tame Impala's sound has changed since this release. This is definitely much more inspired from classic rock, specifically bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones, than their current music. I prefer their current sound to this, but this still has its charm.
Favorite tracks: Skeleton Tiger, Slide Through My Fingers
Least favorite: 41 Mosquitoes Flying In Formation
Sure, I'll gladly have the 500th rating on this project! (IM SO SORRY TO 'irankstuff' BECAUSE HE HAD THE OG 500TH RATING, AND SOMEONE PULLED ONE BACK, SO I GOT IT ðŸ˜)
TRACKLIST REVIEW!
This is an underrated project for Kevin, mainly because the lyrics aren't too great, but the entire point of all this is the stool that holds all Kevin's career glory. Without this, he wouldn't have made anything else ahead, so music wouldn't have changed without this ... read more
This EP is def more fun than the first and feels more proper, but the songs still doesn't feel that engaging to me. You can def hear what he would come to do later on though
Honestly an OK start to his discography, I have high expectations for the new album and I hope he delivers.
I know this is early on in Tame Impala's career, so it doesn't sound as polished as the other project I've listened to prior. Even though the mixing of the vocals on here were kind of trash to me, I will admit that not only that it still sounds good sonically, which is amazing for a debut, but it was a good step to tweak their sound in the right direction Kevin Parker wants to go in.
beautiful psychedelic rock, sometimes it really just makes me feel like everything is happening so quickly. "Half Full Glass of Wine" is a show stopper
Finished my First Listen. In as much as I don't mind if an artist is inspired by another artist, it was a bit distracting in this case because I was hearing The Beatles a lot. There are two great songs, the other ones are fine.
Favs: Half Full Glass Of Wine, Desire Be Desire Go
Least Fav: Slide Through My Fingers
This is officially the last EP I will rate. No more EP's will be rated beyond this point. This does not include relistens of my old EP reviews.
1. Desire Be Desire Go- Great (The new one is better though)
2. Skeleton Tiger- Great (Pretty good)
3. Half Full Glass Of Wine- Great (This goes hard)
4. 41 Mosquitoes Flying In Formation- Good (Not bad)
5. Slide Through My Fingers- Meh (Not that interesting)
6. Wonder- Great (A neat ending)
3 Best- Half Full Glass Of Wine, Desire Be Desire Go, ... read more
I have no words for this so uh I wonder how he got the name for 41 mosquitoes flying in formation
Oh look! Forty mosquitoes flying in formation!! Kevin: eh not that notable
Looks like there's one more Kevin: oh my god I need to make a song about this!
cover is funny

Tame Impala's self titled is a reallllly weird collection of tunes. On one hand, it's really cool hearing Tame Impala very early on and how his songwriting started out. Speaking of, it's rather a rather good showing, if not a little unfocused, all things considered. The songs flowed in and out through different sections, and it occasionally felt very piecemeal to me. That's not to say much of the work was unpleasant; there aren't really ... read more

So this is where our adventure really begins
Despite the fact that the mini-album is only a collection of recorded songs from 2003 to 2008, all compositions share the common idea of loneliness, an escape from everyday reality.
Since this album is almost the first example of psychedelic rock for me, I was amazed by the guitar and drums episodes. This sound is absolutely unusual and really associated with Australia.
Returning to this work at times is a pleasure, and it is a great (now ... read more
