Cal Chuchesta - The New CALassic
NR

Might see me crying at the drugstore.

James Vincent McMorrow - True Care
45

A voice so beautiful, but McMorrows own musical tastes keep getting in his own way. His love for R&B seems to blind him to the fact that these electronic instrumentations do not suite his voice at all, his voice belongs with a dying acoustic guitar or something organic for lack of a better phrase.

It's just so disappointing to see a voice so beautiful being housed in such dull and lifeless soundscapes

alt-J - Adeline

These singles are really pointing towards a great new sound,
And where 3WW fell apart this song has held together, a great single and one that has me anticipating an awesome new album

Liss - First

78: A hidden gem
This is the best "pop" EP I think I've ever heard.

Update:
The lead singer has just died at 25, that's inconceivable for me, all the moments lost and the wonderful music unwritten, this EP the biggest indication of all that has been lost to what could have been.

serpentwithfeet - blisters

78 - A hidden gem, I mean
How the fuck you know about the four ethers?

Maxwell - blackSUMMERS'night

Lake By The Ocean was the R&B SOTY.

DJ Khaled - Major Key
55

The Best Khaled album ever, which isn't much but well done dude, you actually made something I could listen to from start to finish, DJ KHALED fans must have lost it for this one..

Another one!

Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans

To Be Alone With You

Aldous Harding - Party
80

A neat package of an album, 9 songs, with some stellar moments to be found all across it, my favorite moments are found in Horizon and Hardings continual theme of "living the classics".

This album is a rare twist on a very long standing genre, therefore it deserves praise and is definitely a hidden gem in the musical sphere of 2017.

Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been
NR

Disc 2 or "Still" remains my favorite piece of work by Trent Reznor.
As such this is a personal essential album, which I highly recommend,
If you're a NIN fan and you haven't heard "And All That Could Have Been" its time to.

Mogwai - Rave Tapes
74

Re-murdered is its own beast and worth getting completely lost in.

Mac DeMarco - This Old Dog
68

The best moments here, are sensual and fleeting.
It's good, though we see Mac caught between an old familiar sound and that of a newer smoother more constructed sound.

Why he decided to place both sets of sounds together on one album? for variety perhaps, or a growing story, it makes the album suffer that is for sure. His older sound, seems worn out at this point, the songs all but disappearing mid way through.

I just hope Mac continues to explore his fleeting sensual side more, as silly as ... read more

Wiz Khalifa - Taylor Allderdice

If you're looking for Wiz Khalifa's best album on your quest to finish your pokedex, you've found it.

Joy Division - Still [Collector's Edition]
NR

The most wanted b-sides comprised in a studio effort, and their final concert together, mashed into an album to make for the most essential Joy Division album, in the most unessential place, a compilation album.

Enrique Iglesias - Escape
NR

I can beee your hero babbbbby!

Just a huge tunee, huge-

Paramore - After Laughter
73

Well it seems Paramore's new formula has an audience.
Good for them.

The music seems to fit Hayley Williams personality quite well, bubbly and all over the place. This happy but sad pop-rock is ehh, great when I'm in the mood for pop but when is that?

There is something here, but we already knew that? Riot and Brand New Eyes were great albums. This isn't some great new sound for Paramore either they've always had an undertone of dance and new wave, (when it rains, ain't it fun, feeling sorry) ... read more

Clark - Death Peak
50

It's always hit or miss with Clark, and its a miss for me.
But perhaps I just need to speed more time with this record.

GAS - Narkopop
NR

Another great release in the world of ambient music, but at this point there are so many good ambient albums being released that this album hangs like a wallflower.

"Yeah getting rid of that, of course that was said before he moved on. It was a huge departure from his sound and definitely not hip-hop but his next release would show it was so much more."

"@Audiohype 6 years late on this response but I believe it was Trent Reznor who talking about it, and it did affect the exposure! At the time he (Trent) was a part of the Apple Music team so he would know, it did play a part then, probably not anymore!"
On Jay-Z & Linkin Park - Collision Course
"Hey hey, not quite, I don't think. Though Turnstile & BADBADNOTGOOD's EP "New Heart Designs" definitely had something there but less hip-hop and more Jazz fusion or HEALTH's "DISCO4 :: PART II" which definitely got there on certain tracks."

On Jooyoung - Be
"Agree 100% I think it has to do with their vocal performances both artists do the sing-talking thing in their verses, punctuate their songs with falsetto’s and love to stack manipulated vocals a top one another!"
On The Killers - Hot Fuss
"Yeah that’s the point, let me be less succinct, there was a very real push for indie rock to be the next great effector of sound, best seen/known with the Pitchfork-core tag. The reverse of this is that bands with more a traditional rock sound ended up being lampooned despite releasing their most noteworthy records in this time while let’s say in 2005 (when this DEBUT album came out) Franz Ferdinand, Animal Collective, modest mouse, Iron and wine, THE VERVE, feist all got glowing reviews in jarring contrast to this record. There was a deliberate and unnatural critic bombing for albums like this. Not to say that like The Funeral isn’t a wonderful record just that for this debut record to get spitroasted by critics was alarmingly disproportionate to other indie rock record receptions."

""In Search Of" by NERD? if yes then of course! And "The Grey Album" is the reason this record was made so definitely aware and consider those better records that preceded this album. My sentiment is towards the critical reception of this album despite how brilliant and influential it was: It's a record that was a HUGE gateway for hip-hop kids to listen to rock and for rock kids to listen to hip-hop far bigger than the records you mentioned but it isn't acknowledged as such. You really have to look no further than Numb/Encore to understand that."
