Selekta is the best British music representation we've had since those guys ripped their trousers off on Eurovision.
Really stupid, but also smart, but also fucking stupid.
Favourite Song: Selekta
Best: Girl of the Heart, Crawl to Me, I Love Cheating on My Wife, Ooh My Boy, Every 1950's Rock N' Roll Song
Worst: My Husband's Ghost
Endless bangers and a constantly crazed atmosphere makes for one of the best live albums ever. It's a little slow to get going and the Tom Tom Club intermission was kind of awkward, but when the whole band comes together and plays their anthems they're unstoppable.
But I can't lie, 1:52-2:06 of Making Flippy Floppy showcases some of the goofiest synthesiser work I've heard in my entire life. The off key riff and the mistiming of that one particular chord will haunt me to ... read more
A bit chaotic and very overwhelming, but still has that quirky Destroyer charm to it, it's just not as charming as their past stuff.
Favourite Song: Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World
Best: The Same Thing as Nothing at All, Bologna, Cataract Time, Travel Light
Worst: I Materialise
He freewheels through stories with immense prowess, and showcases his maturity and wisdom which was well beyond his years.

Worst: Bob Dylan's Blues
All Clairo needed to thrive was a damn flute.
An improvement on literally EVERY front compared to Sling. Better vocals, better lyrics, better instrumentation, and a crisp, nostalgic tone all throughout which underlines Charm's beauty.
Favourite Song: Add Up My Love
Best: Nomad, Sexy to Someone, Second Nature, Slow Dance, Terrapin, Juna, Glory of the Snow
Worst: Echo
Unfortunately janky.
Favourite Song: Safe from Harm
Best: Blue Lines, Unfinished Sympathy
Worst: Hymn of the Big Wheel
Swapping horrorcore for a dancier [in a demented sense], Prodigy-esque electronic direction makes Dead Channel Sky probably the most unique clipping. album, but there's not much distinction within the pointless interludes and very brief tracks which distract from the more interesting stuff available. It feels too long yet too short at the same time and I found it to be a mixed listen, but the actual meaty substance of the album does a lot of heavy lifting and ultimately leaves me with a ... read more
The makings for a successful Grace follow up are certainly present, but the scrappy second disc demos are incoherent and deranged, and I only found a few of the first disc songs to be Grace worthy material. It's hard not to compare this album to its predecessor (which is partially unfair), but since this was supposed to be the follow up, I can't help but feel disappointed, both in what was recorded and with the fact that it'll never be amended, changed or polished properly. ... read more
Crystal Roses sounding like a BRAT bonus track, call it Crystal Rose Toy.
As a lover of Eternal Blue, Tsunami Sea was always going to be right up my alley. There's a lovely mix of typical metalcore styles to their melodic and electronic sides, but it doesn't quite have the sting of their first album. I'm generally very happy though that they finally released another album, I've been itching for more Spiritbox for a little while.

Nothing but noughties pop punk bangers.

Worst: What a Catch, Donnie
Top 3 worst feelings in the world:
1. Second place in Fortnite
2. Doing taxes
3. When the eponymous song is the worst track on an album
Charli XCX has taught her successors well, in some cases well enough to wipe their internet history. And honestly, I think I might prefer Sugar Water Cyanide to any song off of BRAT. Rebecca Black has something good going here, it just needs some further refinement, more hyperpop bangers and (as with pretty much every recent hyper/alternative pop album) a ... read more
Yet another fun burst of offbeat hip hop energy, but contrary to popular belief, a bit less strapped up than its predecessor.
Favourite Song: Stripper Song

A fun burst of offbeat hip hop energy.

Shoegaze JR goes crazy.

Worst: Halloween
I'm definitely not well versed in R&B enough to truly pick it apart as a genre, nor deep enough in its origins to uncover all of the innovations that were made in the 90's and 2000's, but what I can say is that I think The Weeknd's trilogy is one of the most important pieces of R&B that I've come across. Three mixtapes of this dark, cold style, which totally goes against the commercialised, easy going R&B of the past, makes for a compilation which is ... read more
Takes post-rock too far, as they're now post their prior intriguing directions.
Favourite Song: Aon
Best: N/A
Worst: Tri
Pure and simple fun, but as is Pharrell gospel at this point, sometimes he tries some really weird shit and it doesn't work. The good outweighs the bad though, through the art of chaotic dance music.
Favourite Song: Don't Don't Do It!
Best: Lemon, Deep Down Body Thurst, Voilà, 1000, Lightning Fire Magic Prayer, Rollinem 7's, Kites
Worst: Lifting You
Warm and heartfelt, People Watching continues the Fender heartland rock style to a T, sometimes to its repetitive detriment. There's a few times where the album starts to rinse and repeat itself without much variation or intrigue, but there's other times where gleaming British anthems create the true core of the album. Could have been a bit better and more varied but it's regardless an album of great quality, which is to be expected from Mr Fender at this point. Also that final ... read more
And at the end of it all, he still doesn't have that fucking e in his name.
Bloated to hell but there's some stellar standouts along the way. No other mainstream artist is working at Abel's level, it's incredibly admirable how much he's surpassed his peers over the last decade.
